I assembled mine and had the same problem. I called customer service. Apparently they left an important step out of the manual. If it is saying hello, then insert the key and press and hold the ifit sync button for approximately 20 seconds until all zeros appear. You will first see a code and then scrolling dashes on the display. Keep holding until the zeros appear. This activates the machine. The customer service rep said they get lots of calls about this because it’s not in the manual. Now it’s working perfectly.

Maybe if you register the ifit it tells you all of this. But I didn’t and thought I was stuck with a bad machine.

First thing I'd check would be the capacitors on the motor board. These keep the motor from starting; if you push the belt with your foot to get it up to about 1mph indicated with the speed set 'higher' the machine will start running at the commanded speed if this is the problem.

Another possibility is brushes: they can wear and lose contact, or carbon may have accumulated causing a momentary short that drops out a fuse or breaker. Again, looking at the motor board and motor should guide you as to how to check.

Look to see what kind of speed sensor you have. Dust gets in there and blocks the signal; on a 'properly-designed' unit this produces not a speed runaway but a failure to start.
