110.64872400 kenmore dryer 80 series.

The humming noise is most likely coming from the timer motor and not from the drive motor. This characterizes a problem with a blown thermal fuse which is wired in series with the drive motor and located on the blower housing. Power to the motor is cut when the thermal fuse blows open and consequently the drive motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the drive motor cannot run.

Unplug the dryer or disconnect power then pry the lower access panel off with a flat-head screwdriver as shown.

Remove the screw from the lint duct bracket and remove the bracket. Remove the two hex-head screws from the lint duct and remove the duct to access the thermal fuse and the cycling thermostat.

Rust marks from a stainless steel drum?

If you are talking about brownish colored stains on your clothes, this is actually caused by the drum seal going bad. The drum seal fits around the perimeter of the drum where it meets the rear bulkhead (wall) of the dryer and is a felt type material. One some dryers the drum is reversible and there is a seal on both ends of the drum. When the seal gets old, it becomes brittle and starts to crack and come apart. There's usually a brownish colored pigment that comes off the seal and can get on your clothes. If the seal is worn too much, your clothes could actually be getting caught in the drum between the seal and being dragged. This will also caused brown streaks on your clothes. Now...what causes the seal the wear prematurely are high temperatures. If you do not routinely clean your dryer ducting, your dryer could actually be overheating. This can cause the seal to become too hot and make it brittle over a period of time. Any appliance repair dealer will carry the drum seals for the dryer as it is a common part that requires replacement. If you could post back with your EXACT model number (located around the door opening) I could find a part number and price for you. In addition, I could give you step-by-step instructions on how to replace the seal if you wish to tackle this on your own. It's not a difficult repair and the average consumer should be able to accomplish this task. It will also save you $$ on the long run if you don't want to pay high labor charges of the appliance repair guy. Let me know if I can assist you further.

417.93042201 I have a Kenmore dryer

Hi mcquckin389...
If you can do this yourself then you can save a ton of money
On a scale of 1-5 in difficulty...I would give it a 2.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.

Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if you have to.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer by removing two screws located on either side of the top of the dryer housing and unplug the door switch.
This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal.
Now is also a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots they will make a thumping type of noise or if there is too much wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil, or a light lubricant like Vaseline.
Reassemble the dryer.
Plug back into your electrical receptical.
This should solve your noise problem.

It takes forever to dry clothes. A small load

The most common problem for a dryer to take more than one cycle to dry is restricted air flow.

1.when the dryer is running go outside and find where the venting is located, there should be a good amount of air flow.
2. if the air flow is not good look at the ducting coming from the back of the dryer and make sure it is not kinked or pushed back to far.
there is usually lint build up some where along the ducting or at the end of the duct where it vents to the outside.
3. if you have access to a leaf blower, this can be used to help clear any lint build up inside the duct from the dryer to the outside venting.
move your dryer out and take the leaf blower tube and stick it in the hole and turn it on.
the vented louvers need to be removed from the ouside of the house to allow the lint and things in the duct work to be blown out.

60 series gas dryer- It

Once you get it to heat the timer issue will go away most likely.
You gonna need to check for air restrictions and correct that first.
Next you gonna need to do some checks. The power to the gas assembly starts from the timer down to the control. Next to the control on the blower is the fuse(blows when air restrictions are present causing unusually high temps inside the dryer) So if either is blown the dryer will run as normal but you won't have no heat. If the power is getting to the gas assembly then you have 3 things to check. The flame sensor/detection device, the silicone carbide ignitor, and the solenoids coils. If either the ignitor or flame sensor are open (no continuity) then that is your problem, however, if both of those are good and you have power to the gas assembly and it woks a little but fails then replace them coils. They go intermittent with age in other words they get hot and quit. themobilian_886.jpgthemobilian_887.jpg

Kenmore 70 series dryer shuts off and won't restart

IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE MOTOR IS OVERHEATING AND SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING ON THE DRYER THAT WOULD SHUT IT OFF AND NOT ALLOW IT TO START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY, BUT LET IT START AFTER A WHILE. MAKE SURE THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY. IT SHOULD NOT DRAG OR HUMM WHEN TRYING TO START.
