Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifier Questions & Answers
The dehumidifier is blow cold air
Is it collecting water? The air coming out the back top half should be cool/warm. It will be a little warmer at the bottom near the compressor.
My humidifier blowes hot air
if it's working well it should , unit should be removing all the moisture from air expelling out back , so its dry air
its when coils freeze up then you have a indication of problems
Fan not working
You can purchase a new fan motor. But the same problem will probably happen again. I opened the motor, there is a silver (aluminum wrap) around the windings for the motor that needs to be cut. Careful not to cut the motor windings. Inside there is a yellow thermistor or type of temperature sensor connected between the red wire and a motor winding wire. On my motor this was no longer working (in effect it was an open circuit). Once replaced the motor worked fine. this is the second time in about two years that this problem happened. The first time Sears fixed for about $100 and three weeks. This time I saved the money and did the repair myself. I would guess you could buy a new thermistor for about $5.00 from a parts house like digiKey or National Electronics. You will need to know how to use a soldering iron to repair this.
1 yr old and Stopped working
the beep sound means that there are ac voltage in the unit but you gona need a tech there is no removal parts in that board and sound as a bad ic is there..good luck
Dehumidifier Error?
This error code indicates that the problem is most likely a shorted defrost thermistor or possibly a pinched wire going to the thermistor. You will need to replace the sensor assembly - part # 6877A30013L. The Sears website has it listed for 9.99 + shipping. The humidity sensor & defrost thermistor come together in a wiring harness that plugs onto the main circuit board. It is fairly simple to repair. Just remove the front & rear grill & the metal cabinet. Remove the thermistor from the copper tube on the cooling lines; remove the humidity sensor from the front of the evaporator; pull the wire plug off the bucket switch; & remove the small 7 pin plug from the main circuit board inside the metal control box. Reverse procedure to install new sensor assembly.
