Kenmore upright freezer hot on the sides, stop
Without the model number I'm not sure how to answer your question. Does your model have fans that blow warm air on the outside bottom or a front kick plate? What is your model number? Kenmore has model numbers like this example=> 123.3214567 If the fan has a restriction that causes a lack of airflow it can cause the hot Freon liquid that normally flows around the Yoder Loop inside edges of the freezer door to prevent frost buildup to become very hot because the condenser fan is defective or coils are dirty with dust restricting airflow. If the outside is hot you may have a defective condenser fan motor. That will cause the freezer to ger hot. I am here should you want my assistance....

Whirlpool freezer cool air but not freezing?
Check the seal first. Then check the freon. If it's R-12, you can go to the auto parts house. They have a bottle with a hose to add freon. You put it in on the "suction" low side with the unit running. you can tell when it has enough by feeling the low line be cold and teh high pressure line is warm to hot
Food in refrigerator keeps freezing
Check if your thermostat is not set on high and lower it. Listen to the sound of your fridge and should ocassionally go to defrost mode which should happen automatically and should be silent for not more than one hour.

Is this freezer manual defrost or frost free?
Well, it would have helped had you included the actual model number, but without that, if you have a fan that blows air from the freezer into the fresh food compartement, its an automatic defrost design, A.K.A frost free.
I have an upright Kenmore
HI. On initial setup and installation, the temp control alarm is programed to not emit the alert buzz or sound. This board is very intelligent. It can tell when the unit has been installed, and will only show a blinking red light on initial setup. Now, Once the unit has reached the proper cooling temperature, the buzzer and alarm will be set. If the freezer warms past the set temperature after the initial installation period, this will induce the buzzer and red blinking light. There are no issues here at this time. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal, as of now.
Total capcity level will be 480 lbs of frozen food. I would store a bit less. around 390 lbs to be exact.
