Forgot password for HP LAPTOP NOTE BOOK
The CMOS battery on an HP NoteBook is incredibly difficult to access. It is located under the motherboard, which means that EVERYTHING must be taken apart just to get to it. Been there, done that, tempted to just make a hole in the back of mine just for that reason.
As for a Windows password, those can be reset fairly simply. There are softwares (many good ones are free) that you boot up from a usb or cd and go from there.
It is even very easy to reset such passwords manually by first booting up into safe mode (not so easy to do in Win 8 though, sorry) and running the command line interface cmd.exe with elevated privileges by right-clicking on it and then run as administrator.
Enter the command: net user
This shows you all of the user accounts on the system. You will see in the list of users the account you selected a name for and a couple others like Guest and Administrator. These two are deactivated by default, but may be activated and used.
Reset the password for a user account by entering:
net user (UserName) (UserPassWord) active:yes
Note: (UserName) refers to the name of the account you are working on, and be EXTREMELY careful when typing the password. This method will not forgive any typing mistake. It will just do what you typed in. There is no OOPS button here!
Those are the two options, manually in safe mode or boot a password reset program. Many of these are free.
If you are resetting a user password for Windows 8 though, it will take a lot of searching and trying different programs. Many say they are compatible, but , , , :-)
