I recently downgraded my Vista machine to Windows XP Pro. Dell does not support XP on all their Studios, but I was able to find most of the drivers online. There is two that I have been unsucessful: the drivers for the 1394 Net Adapter and one Unknown Device on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System" (which I think might be audio related?).
Any help on both is greatly appreciated!
Try installing the chipset driver. Check and see if they have it on their support.dell.com site.

Problems Concerning Dell Studio
1537
I have a Dell Studio 1537 with Windows Vista
I noticed that sometimes my integrated webcam works well and sometimes not, now
not at all, sometimes it worked with the integrated Mic and sometimes worked
without it.
Do you know how to solve this issue?
Since the webcam has completely stopped cooperating, I have
reinstalled Dell Webcam Central, but it still says “Please plug-in a supported
webcam,” which is impossible since it is “integrated.” The webcam components
are not listed in the Device Manager, so there is no yellow exclamation point
saying there is a problem, but why would it all disappear, or should I ask how?
Next, I tired to reinstall the driver, but when it is just about complete, an
error pops up saying something like an error occurred and driver could not be
installed, no error number or anything. I’ve contacted Dell through chat twice,
no help the first time, second made progress, but no solution. They installed virus
protection software to scan for viruses, found some, fixed them, didn’t help. Their
second option, of course, is to start from scratch. Now we did restore the
system back to a later date (hopefully before the problem occurred), but this
just seemed to make it worse. I am very suspicious of the Windows Update I
performed a few days ago when I believe the webcam was working. I’ve heard of
people having problems with updates such as these and then having system
problems such as mine. I don’t know if this could be it or not, but I would
appreciate any feedback, advice, help, whatever anyone can offer. I’m getting
pretty desperate here. The driver not installing has me worried. I would love
not to have to start over. Thanks ahead of time for any help.
-- Another strange issue, sometimes when I move my laptop, to place it
differently or what have you, I hear a sound from the laptop like the sound of
plug-in and unplug USB connection. It doesn’t seem to affect anything or create
any problems, but this shouldn’t happen, not?
The issue could be due to a loose connection of the camera above the lcd panel. Try uninstalling the drivers and shutting down the computer. Once done gently press the area around the webcam. Power on th computer. See if you get any new hardware and if it installs. If no. check in device manager. If you still have a bang on the webcam uninstall all usb root hubs and restart the computer. If still no joy power off the computer. You need to hold down the Fn button (Located next to the CTRL button on the left hand corner) and then power on the system. This will take the system to the diagnostics mode. After running the tests run a custo tests on the webcam.

My Dell laptop won't eject a disk from the disk drive. It takes several tries (pushing the eject button) before it will eject a disk. Even when there is no disk in it, the computer sounds like it's trying to eject one.
You can eject from my computer open it right click cd drive and select eject.

How do I reset my bios password on my Dell Studio 1537? I forgot the password and I've already tried removing the cmos batt.
This information is intended for experienced users. It is not intended for basic users, hackers, or computer thieves. Please do not try any of following procedures if you are not familiar with computer hardware. I'll not be responsible for the use or misuse of this information, including personal injury, loss of data or hardware damage. So use it at your own risk.
A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

how do i factory reset my dell studio 1537? its asking for user 2 ...name and password.....what is this??
turn off completely, power it on and as soon as the dell logo appears hold down the control(Ctrl) key and simultaneously hit the F11 key(repeatedly). The factory reset screen should come up. You will loose all data plus any programs that were added. If this does not work try the instructions on the link below. Just copy and paste. http://www.lancelhoff.com/restore-dell-studio-to-factory-settings/
