I am running linux fedora

why not ask on a linux forum.? even Fedora. (why run the old one?) not 25/26/27 versions? or try Ubuntu 16 or 17? for sure the wire-less drivers are missing. why not use wired? get the easy working first then work up to the hard case (WIRELESS). https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/search.php?searchid=9077779 cheers ! HP G60 screen too dark

To turn on external monitor, there's usually a Fn key combination to send the output to the second monitor. Look at the F1 to F12 keys for an icon that looks like two monitors.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and the fan has started making noises

Its possible but it would require taking out all the screws from the bottom of the latop, taking out the keyboard and the screws from the top cover. Then disconnecting the ribbon for the mouse pad and any other plugs coming from the top cover. After you take off the top cover you'll expose where the fan is at and at that point you can clean it off. If it still makes weird sounds then the fan would need to be replaced.

Wireless button (and wireless in general) does not work

ok. unplug your computer and remove the battery. leave it that way for two full minutes. then put the battery back in and plug the computer back in. These steps reset your computer.

now open it up and crack it up using your usual method. It should be fine. if not get back and I will take you through the steps of making it recognize your wireless modem again. hopefully this will not be necessary.

I have an HP Pavillion DV5-1125NR Entertainment

You need to take it back to whomever replaced the fan because the wireless button ribbon came loose and it is simply not activating your wireless device as it should. These are ribbon cables typically that are flat and slide into sockets that then lock in place. When it was taken apart to fix the fan, they obviously did not get it slid back in properly or forgot about it all together.

My Hp-g60 laptop wireless button is not working...

I think this problem is not the button but the wireless device itself. I recently got Windows updates in Aug of 2009 and the wireless quit working. I am trying to reload now. I have seen several posts saying maybe .Net Framework 3.5 may cause the problem...I agree because after rebooting the HP Wireless Assistant couldn't start because of an error in .Net Framework 2.x. The reason I am reloading is because system recovery didn't solve my problem. This is a BRAND NEW PC! The customer hasn't had it for a day yet. Pretty embarrasing that they bring it to get anti-virus and I break the wireless, lol.

Why will the battery not charge?

If your battery will not charge, you need to run a test on some components on the laptop. The battery, the charger and the laptop itself. Once you detect the faulty conponent then you replace it with a new one.To test the battery:1.Power off the laptop,2.Take out the battery,3.Insert it in another laptop,4.Check of it will charge,If the battery holds a charge there, then it means the problem is not from the battery, but if it does not hold a charge, then it means the battery is defective and need to be replaced with a new one.To test the charger:1.Unplug the charger from the present laptop,2.Connect it to another laptop to see if it will charge. If it charges the laptop, then it means the charger is alright, and if it does not charge the laptop, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced. To test the laptop:1.Turn off the laptop,2.Disconnect your present charger,3.Remove your present battery pack,4.Insert a well tested battery into the laptop,5.Connect a well tested charger to the laptop. If it powers on, then it and charges, then it means the laptop is working fine, but if it does not charge, then it means the connection port of the laptop is bad.Hope this information was helpful.

I have HPG60 with AMD Turion X2. During viewing of DVD movies or movies stored in C the battery and its compartment gets heatedup after say 20 minutes or so . the same thin happens during video chat

You may have a faulty battery or a CPU fan problem. When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

I have HP G60 Laptop with AMD turianX2. It gets heated up during Video viewing for more than 15vto 20 mts and also during skype cat or you tube video display. The display suddenly gets blanc, voice s

Not sure if you can fix it, but it's an overheating issue. Laptop overheats and shuts down itself in order to cool down. You state it's a turion CPU and those are OLD. During all those years your laptop was sucking the air from below and blowing it out so dust particles and some other stuff has clogged your vents. Soulution to your problem would be to take the laptop apart, take of the cpu cooler, blow it out with an air compressor or vacuum cleaner, apply some new thermal paste to the cpu and add the cooler again. If you feel uncomfortable doing that - get it to the nearest repair center.
