During the Defrost cycle, the Heating located behind the back panel in the freezer is engaged...... and is Normal.. It's one the method's used to melt the build up of Ice that has developed, keeping the foods nice and cold. You may also experience hearing the same sound you get, if you went to Iron clothes and test the Iron to see if it's hot.

The door seals warm is from the mullion heater that minimizes moisture from forming in that area, under working conditions. You need to provide more information.... What did you see that made you defrost it 3 weeks ago..

you need to do an amp draw with your meter,clamp the run wire on the compressor,you should get 2-5 amp reading,any higher means the compressor is going bad,also should be a locked rotor amp(LRA) reading on comp.-mike

there is a sticker some where inside that will tell you cubic feet

If the entire coil is frozen you can defrost it and it will work for 2-3 days but eventually you will be back at square one. You have a defrost problem and you should replace what is broken. I don't know what you have but it could be the heater, terminator, defrost timer or board, and thermister.

sounds like the water switch is stuckopen or the valve is. Is the water going to the icemaker or thru the door. If the icemaker is overflowing and doesnt shut off then unplug unit,still coming in change the valve. Not coming in then look at the switch.

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very,very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned warmer which makes REF. colder or vice versa.
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system.The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater,heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

Take your old one with you to an appliance parts supply house. They will be able to match you exactly, or provide a compatible model. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

Pull the refrig out and remove the lower panel . Is the fan working ? If so , then the coils need cleaned . If not , check for something obstructing the fan blade . If nothing , and the fan motor not working , replace the fan motor .
