We had the same problem with our wall clock, but it was due to corrosion from a dead battery. The battery acid leaked inside and disrupted the connection between the metal contacting the batteries and the circuit (the one with the copper coil). We took everything out cleaned the contact points with acetone (nail polish remover). After that we had to bend the contact heads up just a little bit so they would contact the circuit again (I guess we bent them down a little when we were cleaning it). It worked just fine after that. I know it sounds intimidating to take apart a clock and put it back together but you're going to throw it out anyway. Just give it a try. It was kinda fun. Think of it as a puzzle. If you can't fix it, I imagine you can get a new motor at any hobby store or Michaels.

The arrows show you the direction to push out the pins.

Look for an arrow on the inside of your watch band. The direction the arrow is pointing is the direction the pin should slide out of the band. If your pin is screwed in, you may not see an arrow on the inside of your band.

2 Look on the edge of the watch band for a small round object, the pin. If the pin head is flat, then it needs to be pushed out. If the pin head has a screw driver groove, then it needs to be screwed out. Depending on the type of watch pin you have, take a sharp pointed tool or a tiny screw driver from a hobby kit or watch tool kit and place it on the head of the pin. You should be looking at the end of the pin on the opposite side from where the arrow is pointing.

3 Push on the sharp tool to push the pin out of the watch band. You will need to use force to push the pin out. If your pin is screwed in, gently unscrew the pin until it becomes loose. Remove the pin with your fingertips. Make sure to put the pin in a safe place, because you will need it again when resizing the watch band.

If you don't have the proper tools I recommend that you not do this yourself. You could scratch the case or damage the movement if you don't know what you're doing. If it's a water resistant watch the gasket also needs to be replaced once it is opened. DO NOT reuse a gasket! For about $8 any watch or jewelry store can change the battery and renew the gasket for you.

Take the watch to a reputable watch repair shop, many Sears stores have a watch repair center in them. Have them do the band adjustment! Its nearly impossible to push those pins out with a paperclip or needle.
