You didn't say what type of Sebo which would be helpful. No matter, all Sebos with a single motor will not disengage the brushroll. In the upright position the brush should not be touching the carpet. If you are using the tools you should always stand the machine in it's upright position.

There is a button on the front, below the bag door. Push that in and lift up. Sometimes you need to pull upward pretty hard and wiggle it.
