How do I fit the foot pedal back on on a SEBO

This is much easier to do than to describe! Your question suggests that you plan to re-fit the same pedal that has come off, so first you need to be sure that nothing actually broke when it came off. You should be able to clip the plastic part back on to the metal part - it should stay there and not fall off (if it falls off, you need a new one). The trick is to get the flat metal part correctly located in the plastic part, so with the plastic part not clipped on, pull the metal part down and rest it in the plastic part, then push the plastic part in to position. The flat metal part should then be trapped behind two projections on the plastic part, so that there is some movement, but not much. These projections may possibly have worn away, allowing the pedal to come away in the first place, in which case you will need a new piece.
I hope this helps. If so, please remember to rate this response as I value feedback. If you need more help, just post a reply here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Good luck!

Bag showing as full when a new bag is in and all hoses unblocked

Hi There,

So when this light is displaying, it's says "Bag Full or Clog" on the indicator. If you have changed the bag, and it's still showing this light, it means that you either have a clog in the vacuum, or your filters are dirty, which is reducing the suction and making the machine think that your bag is full. If your machine is actually cutting off, this indicates that your machine is definitely clogged, or something is stuck inside which is causing the motor to not get air flow, and cauing the machine to over heat. When it shuts off like this, it's a protection system that prevents any damage from happening to the motor when it can't breathe and starts to overheat.

My guess is that there is probably a clog in the machine somewhere, or the filters are dirty. Here's what you may do to diagnosis the machine, and try to isolate the clog to find out where it is in the vacuum.

Step 1. Remove the hose and wand assembly from the vacuum cleaner completely. You may do this by pressing the two tabs on the end of the hose that plugs into the vacuum cleaner:

cca2760.jpg
With the hose and the wand removed from the vacuum, it should look like this:

b7c34c5.jpg
Step 2. Now turn the vacuum cleaner on and check to see if the red light comes on while the hose and the wand have been removed. If the light comes on, then this indicates that your filter is dirty (or the PCB electric board is bad if the filter is clean) and needs to be replaced.

Step 2. Re-attach the hose and wand back on the vacuum, but just the end of the hose that goes into the vacuum cleaner, leave the wand out of the vacuum cleaner so it looks like this:

db25806.jpg
Turn the machine on now as if you were using the attachment hose to clean corners or above the floor and see if the red light comes on here. Also listen to the noise the motor makes and see if the noise changes when you put the hose back on the vacuum cleaner. If the red light appears, or if the motor makes a higher pitched noise now, then this indicates that you have a clog in your hose or wand. You may verify this by remove the hose again from the vacuum, and also removing the wand from the hose by pressing the hose release button on the wand and pulling the hose out of the wand. Look down both of the parts and see if you can see thru both sides. If you're not able to see light through the hose, or the wand, this indicates this is where the clog is. You may take a metal clothes hanger, and try removing the clog this way.

Step 3. If the red light did not display with the wand not inserted into the vacuum, put the wand back into the vacuum cleaner as if you were vacuuming the floors:

1a089d0.jpg
Turn the machine on, and see if the red light comes on in this position. If the light does come on, then this indicates that you have a clog in the bottom of the vacuum cleaner. To check and see the clog in the bottom of the machine, I find it easiest to remove the upper bag housing from the vacuum cleaner completely so you're just looking at the bottom power nozzle of the vacuum cleaner. There's a button at the bottom of the machine that is either a grey, or yellow color depending on what color your vacuum is. Simply press this button in, and lift upwards on the handle or the bag housing at the same time:

Step 4. After the bag housing has been removed, turn the lower part of the vacuum upside down so the brushes are facing upwards. There's a little orange flap on the bottom of the machine that is actually a clog port. Almost every time there is a clog in a Sebo, this is where I typically find the clog. Open up this orange colored trap door, and look to see if you can see any obstruction or clog underneath of here:

08da832.jpg
Step 5. You may rotate the neck of the power nozzle part towards you so that you may look inside to see if you see any obstructions inside:

c034305.jpg
Step 5. You may also remove the brushes from the vacuum and look behind the brushes at the suction port, or the area where the suction goes through the vacuum to see if you see anything obstructing the suction here.

These are really the only places that the Sebo can get clogged. If you checked all of these areas, and the red light is still displaying, this means that your PC Board that controls this indicator has gone bad, and needs to be replaced. If this is the case, please just reply to this repair using the comment field, and I'll be more then happy to help you through the replacement of replacing the PCB Board.

I hope this answer was helpful to you, and you were able to find the clog and fix the problem. If you found my repair helpful, please be sure to rate the repair by clicking the 4 thumbs up icons in the top right hand corner, or by leaving feedback for me. This is really what keeps repair professionals continue to post free repair solutions rather then just the paid questions. It's really appreciated when you take the time and do this if the repair was helpful.

Thank you so much,

This is a post from you concerning a Sebo vacuum cleaner."OK - I'm a Sebo expert, and we will get to the bottom of this! I need you to do one thing for me: lie the machine on one side, then switch it

First, what is the issue you are experiencing? You should feel some resistance when turning the beater bar as it is being driven by a fairly tight belt and a motor. The most common issue with the beater bar would be a burning rubber smell. This would mean that the bar was not turning while is was on but in your case it is.

Bag full or clog light comes on but new bag and no

Have you checked the filters to see if they are blocked and need cleaning/replacing. Failing that it could be the sensor at fault.

Can't get the Sebo S-class filtration off to replace it. I bent the wire down, didn't move much. I tried to pull it off but, it didn't budge.

The filtration cone just pulls out. That's why there's a looped piece of plastic on it at the base of it. The spring wire keeps it in place so that the door can be locked back on.

Cutting out

Greetings from Govacuum,

You may want to check the handle position. On the base of the handle there is a little tab (see picture below) that has open one side, closed on the other. If for some reason the handle is not completely down, this can cause the machine to cut on and off. Just unlock this tab, push the handle all the way down, and then close the tab again. Hopefully this should take care of it for you.

How to remove retention clip on sebo x4 to repair electric cable

Check out Espares video on how to repair and replace cable on the SEBO X1. It is the same machine as the X4, only difference is a different motor and cosmetic differences. I rely on this video and a few of the others that this company have done on You Tube for SEBO repairs. Don't forget to rate, thanks.

Seems like a loose connection ..

There's a mating plug and socket between the two halves of the assembly. When one of the body catches breaks, this plug is repeatedly rocked in & out, and the contacts wear away. It's available as a spare part: The bit on the brush housing is #5176, the female half is on the bag housing and comes with the internal cable #5217ER. These are the parts for the X1 and X1.1 - should be the same as the X4, but you'll have to check for yourself as I don't have X4 drawings. I usually find the female contacts can be squeezed together, and just replace the male half. If you're in the UK, Candor Services carry a lot of Sebo bits. Of course, unless you can repair the catch to stop the rocking it'll happen again... The catch bar inside the bottom of the bag box is retained by some fairly weak plastic, but repairable. I use some of the low-temperature modelling plastic 'polymorph' to shape whatever has broken, by hand. I repair a lot of these; hotel housekeepers just love banging them down steps, even when brand new....

I have a sebo x4 , when I switch it on the red lights flick on and off and nothing happenes

The red lights should flash very quickly upon vacuum start-up (normal). If the motor is not turning on there is likely a problem with the motor or power supply board. The lights flashing does indicate that you are getting power to the PC control board. If your vacuum is under warranty, this would likely be covered. I have included a link to the parts list for your reference. http://sebo.us/pdfs/website_schematicsPDFs/AUTOMATIC%20X%20Schematics.pdf

How do I replace electric brushes in the motor

It will take far longer for me on how to do this, but I did it myself using this fantastic espares video on You Tube. Carbon brushes are really easy to remove as are other areas. X1A, X1.1, X4 and X5 Extra are all the same model, save from cosmetic differences, different motor outputs and bigger floor head and brush roller on the X5.

What is the right bag for sebo x4

  1. First, pull out the hose, turn the unit on, check for an obstruction in the hose. (unclog and obstruction)
  2. Separate the body from power nozzle. Check for obstruction in the air hole passage.
  3. Pull and clean both filters in the unit. The inside white long carriage and the exhaust filter located above indicator panel. (nozzle body)
  4. If this is not working. think about where and how dirt is carried or passes from the front floor nozzle or through the hose.Somewhere in the unit the it is clogged. The red light censers a full bag (we know that's not the issue) or an obstruction to the normal air flow.
  5. Last Resort contact http://www.sebo.us/contact_us.aspx
  6. In closing: I've been selling and repairing vacuums for over 30 years. Of all the 5 major brands that I sell. Sebo is by far the, best product on the market.

Why won't the brush come down anymore. the brush light which should be green is off.

If its a X4 / X5, it may be time to replace the Roller Brush. The brush isn't that expensive. Also buy genuine. We well them for about $40.00 in out store.
