Adjust the mixer speeds:
Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate.
All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must be adjusted.

1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.
3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".
4. Turn each top screw One full turn couterclockwise (alternating between Left and Right)
Keep making one full turn at the time (for both left and right) until the motor starts running.
5. Put your hand near the Agitator shaft and allow it to brush your finger slightly. Use your
watch or clock and start counting the number of times the shaft touches your finger in
60 seconds. The correct count should be 60 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). If it is less
or more than 60, give each screw 1/4 turn counterclockwise or clockwise and start counting
again. Now tighten both lock nuts.
6. Set the speed selector to "6" and turn the bottom screw either clockwise or counterclockwise
to achieve a speed of 180 RPM.

Make sure that the Motor Brushes are not worn out and making good contact with the Motor.

Somehow the O-Ring is coming off of the Vertical Center Shaft (11)
That rubber ring prevents Oil from the transmission gears dripping down
to the Planetary into your mix.

Get a copy of the Repair Part List of your model from Kitchenaid.com
Remove the Motor Housing (1). The Latch Lever (3) is connected to the Latch (10)
and held in place to the Lower Gearcase (5) by the Latch Bearing Screw (8). This
screw is visible from the outside and located near the Latch Lever.
Tighten this screw to fix your problem.

Get a Copy of the Repair Part List from Kitchenaid.com.
First thing I would do is to check the two Motor Brushes (one on each
side of the Motor Housing). Make sure they are not worn out, and when
inserted, they must both make contact with the Motor Coils. If even
one of them is not in contact with the coils, the motor will not run.
You can also remove the Motor Housing and visually verify that they
are touching the Coils.
You may also need to adjust the mixer speeds:

Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate.
All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must be adjusted. Make sure that the Control
Plate is not damaged in any way, contacts are not charred or burnt,etc...

1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.

3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".

I am not sure what has happened to your mixer but, select
different speeds from Stir to 10. If it runs OK, then there is
nothing to worry about, otherwise do the following to re-adjust the mixer's speeds:

Inspect all the moving parts: Speed Lever, Speed Link, etc. and
make sure nothing is loose, bent or broken. Tighten all the screws
if necessary. Finally, adjust the mixer speeds if needed:

HI.Let me jusk ask if yiou also tried to connet to another socket.Let me just clarify that the motor itself did not work /rotate as well.Prior to that situation,have you tried to mix more than what is the capacity of your mixer.If possible motor was overworked/that's why its coil was burnt.There. are possibilities then. First might be that the mixers terminals inside will no longer engaged properly that's why it opens the circuit.Second the motor isn't working because the rotor and armatures coil was burnt because it runs beyond its maximum wattage capacity that's why it draws much current beyond the rotors coil capacity.Did you mixed something heavy.the motor works heavier the last time you used the unit?

Remove the Gearcase Motor Housing (1) & the Transmission Housing (7)
Remove the 2 screws (23) holding down the Motor (2) and lift off way from
the Worm Gear (17). Test run the motor by itself at different speeds.
If it runs fine then it's time to inspect all the gears in the Transmission
Housing(7). Remove all the brown Grease covering the gears.
Pay attention in particular to the teeth of the Worm Follower Gear (19).
(the Bevel Gear (21) sits on top of this gear)
They should not be worn out or chipped. If they are then this is the source
of the noises you're hearing (the Worm Gear is grinding away the teeth of
the Worm Follower Gear). Once the Follower is replaced, your mixer will
be just as new again.
Please Note that this replacement is not an easy task. You need the right
tools and don't use a hard object like a steel screwdriver to pry out the
Planetary plate (15) from the beater shaft. Before re-assembly, use only
fresh new Food Grade Grease from Kitchenaid (the old grease may contain
metal filings from the worn out gear that will damage your new one)

Make sure your Beater can slip in and out of the Beater Shaft
easily. Do not force the beater onto the Shaft if the shaft is bent.
If it cannot be removed easily by hand, use a soft rubber mallet
(not a steel hammer) to slightly tap the beater so it can be moved
up and down the shaft or from side to side. Then you can easily
turn the beater left and remove it from the shaft.

From Kitchenaid Manual:
To Attach Flat Beater, Wire Whip, or Dough Hook
1. Turn speed control to OFF.
2. Unplug stand mixer or disconnect power.
3. Tilt motor head back.
4. Slip beater onto beater shaft and press upward
as far as possible.
5. Turn beater to right, hooking beater over pin on shaft.
6. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.

To Remove Flat Beater, Wire Whip or Dough Hook
1. Turn speed control to OFF.
2. Unplug stand mixer or disconnect power.
3. Tilt motor head back.
4. Press beater upward as far as possible and turn left.
5. Pull beater from beater shaft

I just fixed mine this moring!!
Solution:
1- Lift head. In the lifted position you will see the head of an adjusting screw. Turn it to the left say a half turn.
2- Lower head and see if it is still too low. If so, do it again.

I had to turn mine like two plus full turns.
I beleive it goes into a nylon insert so that the threads are cut as the screw is put in the first time. If the screw is too loose, it may be possible that over time the head could slowly drop because of vibration and the screw slowly moving inward again. If that happens, a new nylon insert may be needed (but that is a different story).

There is another screw that may be loose of the head moves too much right and left. I also had that issue. This screw will be seen if you lay the machine on its side and look up the shaft (pedestal) of the base (large empty area the head attaches to). You will see a small screw head (first item up the open part). That set screw holds the unit in position on the hinge pin to stop movement from right and left.

Your guess is correct. Get it cheap on Ebay.

Those are the two Motor carbon Brushes. Without them, the motor
would not run at all. Sooner or later, they will become so worn out
that the mixer will stop running. And when it does, don't be alarmed.
You simply purchase new ones for it. To see what they look like,
Go on Ebay & search for Kitchenaid Motor Brush*. They are keyed so
there is only one proper way to insert them into the motor housing.
If either or both brushes do not make contact with the motor coils,
the motor will not run.

There are two motor brushes, one on each side of the Motor Housing.
Both must be in contact with the motor coils. If they are too worn out
and/or improperly installed, the motor will not run. Unscrew the black
plastic caps and remove both Brush and Spring Assemblies. Notice
that the brushes are keyed (i.e. one corner is not square) and are
designed to go in the motor housing only one way, in order to make
contact with the motor coils. You can clearly see this if you have the
housing off, whether or not the brushes come in contact with the motor.

You are not adjusting the screws correctly. All three screws (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom)
must all be adjusted. Here is how:

1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.

Hello,
if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.
This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.
To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.
Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.
