KitchenAid KHMS155L Microwave Oven - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My wife slammed the door and now the microwave
You can try to take the unit down and open the cage. Look at the door safety switches and see if they also popped out of place. She might have permanently damaged the door. But don't panic just try what I just explained. Turn off all power first at the breakers.
No power on the unit. I have power at the outlet.
Yes, the microwave has a fuse behind the control panel. it can be purchased at a radio shack or a store like wise. Usually when the fuse blows, it's from a power failure or something inside the microwave getting to hot/overloaded and it will blow the fuse to prevent it getting to the point of catching fire. So my advise is, after changing the fuse and it happens to blow again, then you have an internal issue. Parts for microwaves are expensive and replacing it with a new one usually out weighs the cost of repair.

The magnetron may have either failed or
is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run
it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!!
before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock
switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8
on high resistance range for short circuit, the feed fuse on the
primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the
magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

HI. this is a code that represents a failed key pad or touch pad membrane board. replacing this failed touch pad will fix this issue. This touch pad board is separate from the actual control board.
The microwave is on lock
If nothing else you can just pull the plug on it for a minute and plug it back in. You will have to reset the clock but that resets everything. Usually you can try pushing the cancel button a few times to get out of these but the plug does it every time.

The
first thing I would suggest is a hard
reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.
If that doesn't work,
leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.
If it's still not working, you likely have a bad membrane keypad.

Need to replace membrane for kitchen air micro
There are two options for repairing this unit when its keypad fails:
1. Replace just the membrane keypad.
If you (or someone you
know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically
involved. It is part number 4358545 "membrane keypad" and you can get it for $91.00
here.
2. Replace the control panel subassembly, which comes with a new keypad already mounted.
In this case, you simply
move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself
job.It is part number 8172103 controller sub assembly and you can get it for $188.51
here.
At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.Next, disconnect the strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame. Then
carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your
circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of
disassembly. You can also find helpful exploded views
here.

servicer or your can
do it yourself, but on some models, you would have to
order a new control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

Need to change handle
The door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and/or replace the door handle:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacementThe average cost for a replacement handle usually averages about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. However, price and configuration of your oven also depends upon the MODEL NUMBER.
If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number (if different than the one listed) and let me know. I hope this helps you.
Constantly beeping with lock signal on
Sounds like you have a defective/stuck switch associated with the door lock mechanism. There are 4 and possibly 5 interlock switches. Simply operating the switches may enable you to locate the problem switch. You will have to remove about 10 screws to remove the top cover, to gain access to the interlock.
Best of luck.
First it turned on on its own, then after
Yes, you have a failing membrane keypad.
If and when an oven
is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and
can result in a fire.
So until it is repaired,
please leave it unplugged or leave the door
open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running
unattended.You can find helpful
exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model
number here.
On some models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part,
so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes
with a new keypad. In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.
Some connectors on the relays may have a lock:

you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have
uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically
involved. It's here.
If you would like us to replace your keypad for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part cost, or you can buy the part and send it in with your controller.
