if its the 4 cycle use sae 30 weight high quality oil 2.3oz this does not go in the gas.

it is starving for gas the float or a jet has trash water in it, try taking the filter off the gas line in the tank, poor all the gas out in to a glass jar and see if it has water in the gas water will be at the bottom of the jar, if it is in the tank if there is water pull the filter out of tank remove pump the prime bulb to get the water out of the carburetor, get all water out of tank again, get new filter put it on and use fresh mix of gas, the water is in the can that you fill the blower up with, pour it out and check for water or get new gas can and new gas put new or dry out the filter you have with rags squeeze the water out then use a hair dryer to finish drying it out put it back on , then fill up with fresh gas prim and try to start it, if it still wont start you will need to take carburetor off and blow out the lines if this sounds hard get a new blower, or take it in for repairs good luck or you can get a new carb there not that much 25 or 30 bucks if you can change it out , good luck

Locate the idler pulley lever arm and its deflection spring will be close by, or lost.

Please desribe the engine type (Vanguard V2?) and what was the cause if you had it fixed. I had the same problem--serious to the point off heavy fuel loss and fire if the muggler had heated but turned of immidiately. Only two explanatiions seem possible:

• Frozen float/float valve
• Spontaneouls fuel pump failure or impulse control fault.

Enough fuel coming out to pour through filter and out of cleaner assembly. No apparent cause otheer (in my case) than recent filter service prior to few months storage.

If MTD, Troy-Bilt's purveyor, can't provide one, it's doubtful anyone can or will.

By the absence of the gas in the lines Sounds like the small hoses are cracked also, best to replace them..they do get brittle over time..best to change them periodicly... It can be a DIY job may have to loosen the carb to bend and get them on.a .very inexpensive part..and be bought at any shop or auto parts store..and not a big job for the repair shop..good luck

1. After not bring used for a time the gas gets old and develops what is called shalac making it Sluggish and hard to pump..try puting new gas in and use starter fluid to start..then run for a while alowing the new gas to clean the carb...then stop and try the bulbagain.good luck.

look around for a ROUND HOLE IN THE FRAME look for wear marks on the frame that may corrispond with the spring body making contact there.

start from the most obvious and work your way down. worn misalinged belt , inproper tension, broken tensioner spring or some thing binding in engagment linkage, forien debris causing limited travel, worn gears in housing ? any klunking or grinding noise from housing?
