Open Ground on receptacle

If there is a ground wire there and it is attached it should read correct. It may also indicate that there is a loose or missing ground wire somewhere else in the circuit.

2 yr old softub Hot tub with connected GFI wire

Either the GFI is bad or it is tripping because there is a short in the system (obviously, right). I would turn off your panel break, disconnect the GFI and using a meter test to see if there is a short in the system. You would check the hot lead coming from the GFI to the tub and see if it is shorting. If you can't find a short, you should try replacing the GFI. If there is a short then you need to search for the short. Hope this helps and good luck!

tip

GFCI wont RESET

unplug everyting that's plugged in to all the outlets on that circuit (which that GFCI controls), and then press the RESET button. It should work. If NOT, unplug it all as above, and then disconnect each receptacle. (be careful that no power is being sent to any of them and that noone touches the wires because it will start working after this). then reconnect the GFCI receptacle only and see if you can press the RESET button then. if so, then you know one of the outlets on that circuit has an issue. connect them each one by one and test if you can reset after each one. If you can, then you know which receptacle it is. try reconnecting that one again, there's a good chance it will work as you have just tightened the wires. if not, then you have a more serious problem, possibly a short somewhere in the wall. i'm not an electrician, but i just had this problem and this tip was passed on to me by a friend and it worked.

I hooked up a 20amp circuit breaker to a 15amp recp. then to a 20amp gfci but my outlet tester reads open nutral. what's wrong?

You've lost a neutral connection at: one of the terminals somewhere; inside the outlet; broken strap between the neutral pads on the standard outlet; or the tester is providing an erroneous indication. Does it read OK on the BOTH receptacles of the first outlet? Check the terminals that provide output on the first outlet and the LINE terminals of the GFCI . Bad at the first outlet? Check the input on the first outlet. Bad? Check splices between outlet and service panel and neutral connection at neutral bus bar inside panel. OK? Check the input to the GFCI - make sure on LINE terminals and proper polarity is observed.Double check the line and load terminal screws of the GFCI outlet. Make sure that the power coming into the GFCI is connected to the LINE terminals. Be sure to connect the HOT and NEUTRAL wires to the proper LINE terminals. Neutral conductor (white) connects to the silver colored screws and hot (black or red) connects to the gold colored LINE screws. If you are sending power out to supply additional loads that are to be GFCI protected, the rules above apply - but connect to the LOAD screws.

I have 2 gfi outdoor

GFCI is designed to detect ground faults, and will not reset if ground fault is detected, or if device is bad.
Seems odd that both GFCIs will not reset unless both are outside.
If GFCI is outside, they get dirty and wet, and the GFCI goes bad.

If GFCI will not reset, open following links:

What does the orange light

Has indicator always been ON?
Or did it suddenly turn ON recently?

Usually small indicator lights show that device is working, and has power.
Then when GFCI trips, the light goes off.

I have an older Sundance Sentry Spa model 605.

If you can find a higher rated GFCI receptacle it may help. But the first thing is to use 12 ga wire (NOT 14), and to get a good and tight connection to the load lug. Use the screw terminal, not the push-in holes. If you can remove the screw, do so. Then shape the end of the wire into a nice hook and then use a hammer and anvil to flatten it slightly. Then insert the screw nice and tight. If you can manage a 10ga wire, use that.

Is it OK to have 2 baths on the same circuit????

Hello
No ! not recommended, you need a dedicated circuit for each bathroom.

Since you will be using ground fault protection or a gfi circuit.

You can use 2 or 3 gfi in one bathroom but they must be connected to one breaker.

Thanks and have a good day.

I have an electrical circuit in my home that

They put the GFI in line at the front, all the other plugs run off it. One of the other plugs, has lost ground, has lost neutral, a simple plug in tester will tell you this, find the fault, or,, you have a fluorescent bulb plugged into it. The gfi's are very sensitive, they snap at the drop of the barometer.

White neutral wire on 110v recepticle burnt, 3

This has to be the gfi, They are designed to kick out at the slightest hint of of a short or power to ground. I personally have had a few bad experiences with the 15 amp GFI recepticles, and have upgraded to an industrial style 20 amp model which is still acceptable for code here. Check your local electrical codes before doing this, and make sure it is the first recepticle in the circuit.
