Can I reuse a Lutron Maestro MAW-603 dimmer in a 2 way situation?

you should be able to by hooking up the black wire on the dimmer to the hot wire(that comes from the electrical panel) in the wall box and the red wire from dimmer to the switch leg(the wire that goes to light fixture). if the dimmer has a white wire(nuetral wire) you will need to hook that up to the white wires in the wall box....CAUTION!!! when removing the old 1 pole switch, there should only be 2 wires and possibly a green or bare copper ground wire attached to it. if either of the 2 wires(not the ground) are white, IT IS MISLABLED OR MISCOLORED. DO NOT hook the dimmers white wire to it cuz it will fry the dimmer. If this is the case, then most likley you do not have a nuetral in the wall box but look anyway for a couple of white wires tied together with a wire nut and stuffed in the back of the box. if you find those than most likely thats your neutral(check with a wiggy or meter to be sure) and thats where the dimmers white wire goes. hook up the dimmers green wire to a green or bare copper wire in the wall box and then put a wire nut on the dimmers red w/white stripe wire.

You are saying that you have a "4-way circuit". That means that you originally had two 3-way switches and at least one 4-way switch. ALL existing mechanical switches _must_ to be replaced with electronic dimmers in order for things to work correctly. You must have only _one_ master dimmer (MA-600) located wherever you desire. All of the other switch locations must be companion dimmers (MA-R)., NOT mechanical switches.

The MAW-603-RH comes with a master dimmer and one companion dimmer, so I suspect that you need to install one more companion dimmer.

How do I wire up a Maestro Lutron MAW-603-RH

If you bought the 3-way package, there should've been two products included: the MA-600- and the MA-R. First of all, if this is a four way circuit, that means you currently have at least three switch locations. The package you bought takes cares of two of those locations, but to get the third, you need another MA-R. If there are more locations than that, each additional location requires an MA-R.

It doesn't matter which product (the MA-600 or the MA-R) you put at each location. They all wire the same.

At the 3-way locations (ends of the lighting circuit), install the dimmers just like you would a standard 3-way switch. The only thing I caution you, make sure that the blue screw on the dimmer is connected to one of the traveller wires going to the next switch box. Also note what color wire its attached to - because when you go to that next switch box, the blue screw of that dimmer needs to tie to that same wire. At the 4-way switch box, the most important thing to remember is this.... make sure all the blue screws are connected together (which is why its important to know WHICH wire is connected to the 3-way switches).

As long as you have enough product and you tie the blue screws together, it should work.

The lights on the dimmer flash and/or brighten and

For 100% certainty, I would call Lutron's tech support at 1-800-523-9466. They're available 24/7 and can probably troubleshoot it more effectively than through this text-based dialogue. However...

I have three guesses...

1) Check the minimum load. The minimum load for those products is about 40-Watts. If there isn't enough lamp wattage pulling electricity through the dimmer, the dimmer may not have enough juice to keep itself powered up... and then shut down (hence any flashing you may see). If the issue only happens when the lights are at full (or close to full) brightness, then that's most likley your issue. To solve, either increase the lamp wattage, or replace with a dimmer that contains a neutral wire such as the MAELV-600M.

2) Check the load type. The dimmer's are rated for incandescent & halogen. If these are LED or CFL lamps, you are going t see issues. For dimming performance, either convert the lamps to incandescent / halogen, or investigate their new Diva dimmer for CFLs & LEDs: DVCL-153P-

3) If neither of those solve the problem, the next guess is to check the wiring. I wouldn't expect this to cause any "flashing" but in the wiring circuit, each device had a blue screw attached to it, and you need to make sure that the blue screws are wired/connected to each other and ONLY to each other - otherwise "automatic" dimming can take place.

But again, the only way to be certain is to use their tech support. I highly encourage you to use that.

My led lights start to strobe when I turn on exterior light that is fed from the same line circuit. Solution?

There are two things coming into play here; the lamps and the dimmer(s). First; LED and CFL type lamps that are to be used on a dimmer switch - must be identified for that use. Looks for the word dimmable on the packaging or bulb itself. These lamps are generally a little more expensive than their non-dimmable counterparts. If it does not indicate it is dimmable, then it isn't - and should not be installed on a circuit controlled by a dimmer switch. Second; a dimmer switch that will be used to control LED and CFL bulbs (that are identified for use with a dimmer) must also be identified for use with dimmable LED and CFL bulbs. Again, these dimmer switches will be identified for this use and will cost more than those that work with standard filament type bulbs. Lutron has dimmers for your circuit called a "C•L™ Dimmer" and supports Incandescent / Halogen, Dimmable Compact Fluorescent (CFL) and Dimmable Light Emitting Diodes (LED) type lamps. have a look here: Lutron Maestro Dimmer and Switch Models Also, be wary of the total load (wattage) of the lamps being controlled. If you have multiple dimmers in the same box, derating of the switch's wattage capacity (due to increased heat) will be required.

I have installed the Maestro

Maestro dimmers are not recommended with any CFL for pretty much the reasons you are experiencing. The electronics within the CFLs are probably not letting the power circuitry in the Maestro charge-up - and because of that, it comes as no surprise that adding an incandescent lamp solves the problem. The company makes products that are compatible in their Ariadnia/Toggler & Diva product families, but not Maestro - you just need to make sure the dimmer itself identifies itself as compatible with CFLs.

Lutron maestro IR remote control wireless dimmer won't work

http://www.lutron.com/wallboxvideos/maestro_ir_remote_programming.html

If you have followed the programming instructions, the only thing that might be wrong would be the power wire and switch leg wire may be installed on the wrong screws on the back of the device. Be sure that the wire bringing power "INTO" the box is connected to the "Black" screw on the dimmer and the wire going "OUT" to the light fixture is on the "Gold" or "Brass" colored. If these are backwards the dimmer will probably work, but the IR would not. If you are positive it's wired correctly and the IR remote still won't sync up, call the 800 number at the end of the attached video for Lutron Technical Support. Good Luck!
