You need to adjust your valve lash clearances to:
Intake: 0.015" (0.381mm)
Exhaust: 0.015-0.020" (0.4-0.5mm) (Try smallest setting first. If still not running right, change clearance to 0.020".)

Use a capacitor tester with the proper range of farads. Some electric multymeters include a capacitance, or capacitor test for farads value.
This test tests not for capacitor value but for operation. Connect an ohm meter and the reading should jump before gradually settling to zero ohms. Reverse the leads and again jumps before settling down. Preferably with analog meter. Digital meter still works.
I've also tested capacitors by connecting it across AC voltage and reading the amperes. Then find the resistance of the capacitor with use of math formula R/EI, then use the Xc formula I don't recall now, something like C = 1/ (2pi f Xc).
For DC capacitors does not apply but to use a meter.

These alternators have AVR automatic voltage regulator to set the voltage on any alternator you need a volt metre and a frequency metre first plug the frequency metre in to the power output and adjust the engine throttle speed on the governor to 50 Hz or 60 Hz run the unit under load the voltage should be just under it's rated voltage if not the problem is around the AVR, most AVR's are supplied with a AC voltage from a separate winding about 5 volts the winding should have some resistance and not shorting to the body of the alternator the best way to test this is with a mega ( make sure you disconnect the AVR first ) If these two conditions are ok and you still have low voltage you most likely need a new AVR although be for you do that you mite want to check all of the winding first.

When this happens, this usually means that your genset is not creating voltage. First thing I would do is disconnect your remote start wire from the genset, this will eliminate the start switch inside the RV. For a shorted remote start switch can cause you genset to shutdown. Second, place a volt meter at a spot where you will be able to read genset voltage. If no voltage is available and your voltage regulator is new, then the problem is with either the rotor or stator. The rotor is the easiest check. You need to reach the brushes. Take a resistance reading, which should be around 20 ohms. Clean the rings and make sure there is enough length on the brushes, at least over 1/2". Next, flash the fields using a 12Vdc battery. Use rubber gloves when doing this. Place the positive side to the ring closest to the bearing and negative goes to the back ring. This is done while genset is running so be careful with rotating parts. Have a volt meter on the output wires. Once you flash the fields the voltage should increase to over 50Vac. If it does then your stator is bad since you installed a new voltage regulator. If the voltage does not increase when flashing, then the rotor is bad.
