I replaced the worm gear on my artisan mixer and after put back together no power when i plugged it in. I took pics of wires before removing them and placed back in exact order. what should AI look at

Check that you have put the carbon brushes in correctly, they are "keyed" on one corner so will only work one way. Look in the hole with a torch to see the blocking corner in the bottom.

I have a KitchenAid 5qt lift bowl mixer from 2000 and have burned out the motor. Can it be repaired or should I just spend the money on a new one?

Without knowing which model mixer you have I cannot be specific as there are 5qt models with very different motors. Parts are available and the mixer can be fixed. Doing it yourself makes it much more affordable. Service Manuals covering the two types can be found at: Professional 5/6 quart: http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdf 4.5/5 quart: http://www.kitchenaidparts.eu/documents/pdf/service-manual/classic-svc-manual-new-email-version.pdf

My kitchenaid k45 has no speed. or torque. Tried to adj motor control as per the ss type but nothing helps. is there supposed to have a spring under the control board like the ss ones. Lee

The adjustment procedure is the same and there are springs on the two adjustment bolts. Thereafter, things are very different on the K45. No speed or torque can be caused by: 1. Bad brushes, or most likely 2. A bad resistor. There are three wires on the resistor. It should read 190 ohms (or there about) across the red and white wires and 95 ohms (or there about) across the black wire and either of the other two. 3. A bad field coil (stator). 4. A bad armature. A replacement resistor, field core, and armature are extremely difficult to find. The Service Manual for the K45 and K5A can be found in the files section of WACEM, you just have to sign up to the site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WACEM/ Look for "K5-A, K45 Original Service Manual"

Our Kitchen Aid Accolade 400 has developed the equivalent of a stuck accelerator. When set on 'stir' or any of the low-speed settings, the RPMs increase rapidly, then the motor shuts off.

Sounds like the speed control, easy to replace and the model is on the bottom. Simple google search to find part

The head to my kitchen aid mixer bounces up when kneading dough

This sounds like an issue of beater to bowl adjustment, which can come out of alignment naturally over time and with use of the machine.

If the flat beater is striking the bottom of your bowl, this may cause the locking mechanism to loosen and may cause the mixing head to "bounce" during use.

Your Use and Care Guide will cover the "beater to bowl adjustment," which you can do at home in a few minutes with a flathead screwdriver.

Leaking fluid, oil I think around the kitchen aid

Bucksmom, Sorry to hear you mixer is 'leaking'... I hate it when that happens. You don't mention how old or what model your KA mixer is? I assume you mean the band around your mixer with the Kitchenaid logo, when you say 'kitchen aid ring.
Your mixer does have an internal gear mechanism (transmission if you will) which converts the electric motors rotation into the mixer rotation and those gears are located within the mixer. The gears were lubricated at the factory, but depending on the age of your mixer and how it is used, it is possible that the grease has leaked beyond the gasket and that is what you are seeing now.
It is possible to disassemble the mixer to determine where the grease is coming from and troubleshoot if anything else might be wrong within the transmission.
Hopefully the leakage is not getting into your food being mixed. Kitchenaid Grease should be 'food grade' grease, but you still don't want to ingest it.
I hope this helps... Howard, Burke, VA

I have a Professional 600 deluxe. The beater will pass the dime tet and the screw that is suppose to adjust the mixer will not move. Please advise how to adjust.

If the beater passes the dime test there is no need to change the adjustment screw. The screw head rotates an eccentric stop which changes how far up the bowl lift goes. The screw limited to a full range adjustment of !/2 turn. To access the screw internally, the motor head must be removed from the column. How do you remove the pin on the verticle shaft of kitchenaid artisian, this is the pin that holds the beater on. Looks like you just tap it out with a punch.

If you are referencing the pin which locks the beater itself to the planetary's shaft, it can be removed with a punch. However, if you are trying to remove the planetary itself, a 5/32" punch will do the trick.

Kitchenaid KSM90 mixer stalls under heavy load, when kneading dough, for example. We've already replaced the worm gear.

Try cleaning contacts on speed control board. If it works, suggest replace.

Kitchenaid stand mixer won’t turn off

What you need to check is going to depend on the model. No point me attempting to help without knowing what one it is. If it has a back cover held on by a single cross head (philips) screw then very likely the solution will be under there. When plugged in there is live power there so be aware ***** is not far away if you plan on messing about while it's live.

I took planetary of kitchen aide K45ss to replace gear tower and now it won’t slide back on center shaft...how to fix?

The problem, most likely, has to do with the hole in the planetary shaft through which the pin goes. The edges on each side have distorted and flared outward. When this happens, I take a jeweler's file and carefully smooth ridge smooth in each side. After that, the planetary slides back in place.
