Bad Power supply

Service-Unterlagen The service manual. Just to ensure: The power supply doesn't work even if the mic is not connected? The LED remains off? Are you experienced enough to measure inside the unit while it is plugged in? (safety, tools... you know what I mean.) Can you send me a picture (in good quality) from the inside of the power supply?

Need help repairing N-soundtube PSU for AKG Mic

Define what you call the transformer. The microphone has a power supply in a separate enclosure. Usually the output has 7 pins to connect to the cable to the mic. First you need to verify that the cable is good. With a multimeter, check continuity of each end of each pin. If one pin has no connection, the replace the cabble and your problem will go away. Try this first, then if needed we'll talk about the power supply. Roy Walker Labs

How do I solve the problem of a crackly switch?

It has dust or oxide inside. Go to Radio Shack and pick up a can of "Tuner Cleaner" or "Contact Cleaner". Using the tube that comes with the can, spray the switch liberally, trying to get some of the spray down inside the switch. While still dripping wet, work the switch back & forth several times. Let it dry out & use it. If that's not enough... the mike will need to be opened up to gain better access inside the switch with your spray. No need to unsolder anything, you just need to get that spray inside the switch. Don't use anything except "tuner cleaner" or "contact cleaner" for the purpose. Don't use WD40, don't use silicone spray, don't experiment. Let's get your mike working... and only tuner cleaner or contact cleaner is known to do that.

When I turn on my SolidTube and let it warm up for

Hello,
I would be inclined check your +48v phantom power supply to make sure the correct voltage is coming out and to check your cable. Failing that, if you have changed the tube once I'd be inclined to contact AKG Directly via email to find a service center or get furthur advice.

Sound Problem

What are you running this mic into ?, an interface mic pre ?, a soundcard ? A console/ mixer ?
Since this is a tube mic it should have its own power source and I am assuming you plug that in when using it ? Don't use phantom power on this mic, even though it's a condenser mic, since it's a tube mic wich have their own power supply you don't need phantom power on them and in fact it may damage its power supply.

Problem With the Power Supply for AKG SolidTube

Well your obviously drawing too much current.
The other given is that it takes time. This means its a thermal problem. Temperature goes up and current goes up with it.

Look for plastic or cold solder joints. A plastic joint is dull and brittle also look for islands in the solder joint where the solder
is actually disconnected from the part.

Components like regulators also can go thermal.
Look for discoloration.
Get the unit to act up and carefully spray freeze mist at
various locations and you may agrivate it.

Problem may be in MIC and not SUPPLY.

Good Luck
