Make sure there is no water in whatever you are placing in the grease....grease and water together equals bad boil over.... the water turns to steam rapidly and very bad things happen...

I had this same problem which is how I came across your post, and I found on the Rival website ( www.rivalproducts.com ) you can email the company and tell them the model number and they will email you the manual, and if you're like me and hate to wait that long, you can call their customer service number and tell them what you need and they will email you the manual in about an hour. The number the website gave me was  1-800-323-9519, and I also realized there was also a number on the box too.

Check the plug and then remove the bottom plate and look to see if the wires are still connected. Check another outlet to make sure a breaker wasn't tripped.
