Rival 8401-M 4 Quart Ice Cream Maker - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How do you oil/grease the motor?
You don't, this is an electric motor. Oil and lubricants can cause damage to the motor or even cause a fire. If you feel that you need to have the motor serviced take it to a professional electrician who has experience in servicing such motors.

Motor making a squealing sound
First try cleaning the outer part of squealing blades with a soft cloth and try.
If not resolved then, you need to open the case and try replacing the blades.
If the problem is still not resolved, please replace the Iccream maker
Ice cream maker 8401
I have the Rival Electric Ice Cream Maker 8401. The manual that came with it lists these models on the front: 8405, 8420, 8455-X, 8550-X, 8605, 8620. It doesn't list 8401 but it is the only one I have ever owned and it is the right manual. I need the aluminum ice cream can. Mine was damaged.

Out of stock
I have an 8401 4 qt and have used it for several years. The dasher broke on Memorial Day, and I just bought another 8401 on Ebay for $14.99 plus shipping.
Anyone who would like to have parts from my old one: contact me here and I give you 1 or all parts for the shipping cost. I have everything except the dasher and the instruction manual. I will also share my family recipe for vanilla ice cream - FREE!
My older model is about 5 years old and has had moderate use. It DOESN'T look brand new! :)

Motor is noisy
Motor of that type, no. Depending on the age of the machine, it might be time to replace it. These are sealed motors that aren't designed to be serviced, rather, designed to be replaced.
