Onan 2500 camp power ran fine then died & aslong as i held starter switch on it ran fine but stopped when released start switch . after a few days it started up & ran fine for about 30 min. t

You may have dirty rotor slip rings, or bad brushes. Field voltage must be maintained. Check those first

Rv onan rv runs but now makes a rackett when running was real quiet

Contact www.advanced-power-technologies (Cummins Dealer) with exact model and spec number. Also there are cold weather options, and cold weather models. Many people buy the RS units of the net, only to find they have been stuck with warm weather models, and they don't start. Does it show a code, or a code 45.

It has a cantilever snap action. Either the spring has detached, broken, disabled or unit is otherwise damaged. Heat, water, rodent, etc damage. Replacing the unit is most likely your only option.

Can i use this tester to check for any live wires. im installed a new light fixture on my porch from existing wiring but lights not tuning on

However, I can provide guidance on using a basic voltage tester to check for live wires when troubleshooting a light fixture installation. Using a Voltage Tester: Non-Contact Voltage Tester: If you have a non-contact voltage tester, it's a handy tool for quickly identifying live wires without direct contact. Hold the tester close to the wire insulation or the terminal screws, and it should indicate the presence of voltage without making physical contact. Contact Voltage Tester: If you have a contact voltage tester, make sure it's designed for the voltage level you're working with (e.g., 120V for residential electrical systems). Turn off the strength to the circuit on the circuit breaker or fuse box. Safety First: Always prioritize safety. Make sure the power is turned off before working on any electrical components. Test the Tester: Test the voltage tester on a known live circuit to ensure it's functioning properly. Check the Wiring: Once confirmed, turn off the power to the circuit you are working on. Use the voltage tester to check each wire connected to the light fixture. Verify that there is voltage on the wires. Neutral and Hot Wires: Typically, a light fixture will have a hot wire (usually black) and a neutral wire (usually white). Make positive each wires are linked properly. Ground Wire: Check for a ground wire and ensure it's properly connected. Some light fixtures may have a green or bare copper wire for grounding. Switch Position: Ensure that the wall switch controlling the light fixture is in the ON position. Bulb Check: Confirm that the light bulbs in the fixture are working and properly installed. Circuit Breaker Check: Double-check the circuit breaker or fuse for the lighting circuit to make sure it hasn't tripped or blown.

I have a onan 4000 LP generator when I try to start it it starts and then goes dead?

Here are some common troubleshooting steps to help you identify and potentially resolve the problem:
  1. Fuel Supply:
    • Check the LP (propane) fuel supply. Ensure that there is enough propane in the tank.
    • Check for any obstructions or kinks in the fuel line.
  2. Air Intake and Exhaust:
    • Make sure the air intake and exhaust are not blocked. Lack of proper ventilation can cause the generator to shut down.
  3. Choke Position:
    • Check the position of the choke. If it's set to "Choke" for starting, make sure to gradually move it to the "Run" position once the generator has started.
  4. Fault Codes or Indicator Lights:
    • Look for any fault codes or indicator lights on the generator control panel. These can provide clues about specific issues.
  5. Oil Level:
    • Check the oil level in the generator. Some generators have a safety feature that shuts them down if the oil level is too low.
  6. Spark Plug:
    • Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage. If needed, clean or replace the spark plug.
  7. Fuel System Issues:
    • Inspect the fuel system for any leaks or issues. LP generators may have a fuel filter that needs to be checked and, if necessary, replaced.
  8. Carburetor:
    • The carburetor may need cleaning or adjustment. If it's clogged, it can lead to stalling issues.
  9. Battery Voltage:
    • Ensure that the generator's battery has sufficient voltage. A weak or dead battery can affect the starting process.
  10. Generator Load:
    • If the generator is under a heavy load, it may shut down. Try starting it without any load and then gradually add loads.
