How to measure the stator on a honda ex 5500 generator

You need a volt meter an ammeter and a variable power supply and with ohms law the resistance can be calculated. V=IR thus resistance is the applied voltage devided by the current R=V/I Set the psu till a convenient current is indicated on the ammeter and take an accurate voltage reading and do your calculation. Normal multimeters cannot read reliably below one ohm and these rotors do have a low resistance

Electric starter will not work on honda e u 3000 generator

Hi there! 1) Check battery with a load tester and recharge / replace if necessary 2) Check the ignition switch for loose wires or if the switch is okay 3) Remove the starter and try to run it against a piece of wood ( Have you seen the wooden hammer handle of an auto electrician?) If you can stop it then the motor needs repair/replacement it is often cheaper to replace than repair it excluding labour!! 4) Check ringear on the flywheel and the pinnion of the starter motor for binding and wear. Keep these tips in mind for your Automobiles too

My 5.5kva Honda generator has no voltage and voltage meter also not showing voltage. What can be wrong?

Hi there I had a similar problem years ago. 1) check brushes on the sliprings of the alternator 2) There is a small pcb on the brush gear and an electrolytic capacitor some diodes etc. check for bad joints or capacitor 3) lift off one brush from sliprings and connect for a couple of seconds a 12 volt battery to it. Why? The rotor must have some residual magnetism for it to develop excitation and sometimes if the genny was not used at all for a long time then that magnetism sometimes die away. It also happen if the genny was disassembled for one reason or another Good luck

Hi I have a Dunlite UH5 generator coupled to a Honda GX 340 Generator is noisy. Is there a parts list or workshop manual I can get to explain how to identify and repair the generator ?

Hi, You can get parts from "Generator Guru" for your Dunlite generator and your Honda, as it sounds like the anti vibration engine mounts are shot. Sorry, but I can't help you with the manuals. Kind regards David

How to make my black max 8125 generator quieter!?

My friend has one, and after he starts it, he places a small mini shipping crate over it (like the kind you see in photos of cargo ships). Seems like the crate is made of some kind of plastic or fiberglass, and he has a short flexible steel pipe going out of a small hole that is cut out of the bottom of the back side for an exhaust. Seems to squelch the sound fairly well. Good luck.

Honda ES6500 blows 15amp fuse as soon as the key

hi I think the problem is on when the key is turn to rotate and to engage the starter motor and it at this point that the cable curring the current on to the starter motor it then the fuse gets blown , in my opinion this cable is shortening across the chassis causing the fuse to blow, or when it get to the starter solenoid a faulty solenoid absorbs accessed electric current causing the fuse to blow

Honda generator not producing electrical current

Generators rely on a residual magnetic field to "kick start" the current making process. Yours has lost this field. Easy enough to fix however. Plug in an electric drill while it's running. Squeeze the trigger and manually twist the end of the drill (this will act as a miniature generator, as the Honda has lost its magnetic permeability and this motor rotating in reverse will generate a small current and restore it). Take care as, as soon as you spin it fast enough to develop a current, the generator will pick up on this current and start generating it's own current; energizing the drill. Once the generator starts generating current, it will repair itself.

Honda generator eu3000is Not getting power to carb in order to meter fuel

After reading about Honda's Eco Throttle system available on inverter generators it seems it is not a fuel metering system but a computer controlled speed regulator or basically an electronic throttle. Because the engine of an inverter generator doesn't need to run at a constant high speed to produce the correct 50 or 60 Hz output this generator can run at slower speeds when the load is light. The electronic throttle is the means to make it happen - operated by the computer. The throttle is probably operated by a stepper motor and the power supplied to it likely to be in digital form. I suggest you try and gain a more full account of how the system works before you delve deeper.

What is the gap between the module and flywheel on a eu6500is Honda generator

I don't know. The air gap isn't usually critical. It needs to be a small gap for best efficiency but must not be so close it will touch if expansion brings it closer at operating temperature. The last air gap I adjusted was on a Briggs engine and that was 0.008", 8 thou which I believe is fairly typical for that type of application.

Honda generator EB3500 wont idle when put into auto idle, it will basicly want to stop

Carburetor is probably gummed up. Try running some "Sea Foam" in your gas, run it until the mix is in the carb and then shut it off and let it sit. I had to let a snowblower sit a week until it dissolved all the gum. If your using gas with Ethanol, this is a common problem. Try finding a station that sells gas without Ethanol or use Sea Foam to keep the Ethanol from breaking down. (It can break down in as little as 30 days).
