It is a blown thermal fuse. On 6-cup Rival it is across terminal where power comes into cooker. You can replace thermal fuse for less than a dollar in under an hour. Remove the bottom of the cooker. The thermal fuse is covered by a heat wrap sleeve across input terminal.
I lost the plastic measuring
The measuring cup you lost is equivalent to 3/4 cup or 180ml and this can make approximately 2 and 1/4 cup of cooked rice.

I misplaced the directions so I don't recall how
Depending if your soak and rinse your rice or not before you cook it; there is a simple rule of thumb.
1 cup unsoaked/unrinsed rice = 2 cup water
1 cup soaked/ rinsed rice = 1 cup water
*** never rinse Jasmine or Basmati rice***
Good luck. I hope this helps.

the best place that i can try and tell you to go is to a hardware store to find the product. if nobody has it locally then you might have to call the manufacturer to order the part. also try ebay. i do know they sell some parts for rice cookers

Hi, how did you get on with identifying markings. It is more likely to be a thermal fuse, but if you can get me the markings, I can tell you what to get.

Lost Cup
The measuring cup for my Rival RC100 holds 6 oz (volume of water to the top rim). The markings on the inside of the pot (1 through 5) seem to hold about 12 oz each.
(that is: the 1 line holds 12.2 oz, the 5 line held 57 ounces of water)
close enough to the standard 2 to 1 water to rice ratio.
I put in about 1.7X as much water (by volume) as brown rice, and it comes out very good for me. (1 cup rice to 1 3/4cup water).
Why does it burn my rice on the bottom.
that is common to have the bottom part burn when cooking rice.
what i did was change the ratio of 5 cups water = 4 cups rice.
when its near cooking, dont leave it for a long time since it will continoiusly heat up in the bottom part, i suggest to unplug it when the rice is already cooked.
hope this will help.
