A tail cap on one end and the Cree light module and reflector on the other. William, went to Coleman site, looks like you remove screws on bottom of lantern to access and change battery. I found that bashing it with a hammer numerous times helps to alleviate some of the frustration plus what does it hurt? Not like the damn thing was working anyway
