Sanyo EM-U1000W Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
Microwave blowing fuses
Sanyo isn't that great of a manufacturer.. I had a microwave from them a few years back that did the same thing.. The wiring inside the microwave is shot.. if you were to open it up, you'd probably see some burnt wires from a short. If you use the microwave over a range, it may be because of grease build-up...
anyhow, its better that you invest in a new microwave, rather than fix it. It will be much more cost efficient
Microwave won't shut off
the timer is more than likely broken. There are no replacement parts and the mocrowave will need to be replaced...or keep the door open when not in use, and use a watch to keep track of cook times
Sanyo Em-u1000w
i have the same microwave and mine does the same thing, try this push the clock button and enter the time or just push 100 and hit the clock button and then enter in your cook time and hit start.
Microwave will not work
This is still under warranty, so I would not recommend voiding your warranty by attempting repair.
I would call Sanyo at the number in your manual and ask for the nearest authorized servicer so you can take it in for repair on their dime.
If it's an over the range model, I would make sure to have a second person to help remove it from the wall.
If I had to bet, I'd say thge temperature fuse / thermal fuse / thermostat on the magnetron is open, but it may be the power fuse.
Please post back if you need more help, or if you decide to work on it yourself.
Microwave is on but the keypad doesnt respond
It may be in child lock mode. Your owner's manual will cover that.
On the Sanyo EM-S5595, for example, you turn the child lock off and on by pressing and holding the STOP/CLEAR pad for 3 seconds. Yours may be the same.
You may also have a bad keypad, which in many cases can be replaced.
A bad keypad may be worn out due to age, may be damaged, or it may have gotten wet or otherwise contaminated.
Moisture and contamination can be caused by not using the fan when boiling on the stove top, direct spraying of cleaners, by storing the microwave in an unheated garage or shed, or by infestation.
I warn my customers to never spray cleaner directly onto the microwave keypad, since the liquid can get inside and "lock up" or even ruin the keypad or controller.
Instead apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) to a cloth (since paper towels can scratch) and gently wipe it off.
I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics.

My Sanyo Microwave does not heat up
As it is an older model, I would suspect the magnetron and or capacitor. Maybe the fuse has blown but it will happen again if you just replace it.
Where can I get my door fixed
I would find someone that repairs and fixes small appliances then. I would search on Google and Yahoo small appliance repairs then.
I have a Sanyo Showerwave EM-P672W microwave, that just stopped. Went to heat something up, soon as I went to start it, poof. At the time, it was only about 4 yrs old, & was working fine. I do live in a building that is very, very prone to power surges & fluctuations. Can't count the number of times I've plugged in the vacuum, or used the a/c or garbage disposal, & either had a breaker pop or a safety outlet pop it's mini breaker. I am guessing the microwave has blown a fuse in it due to the power issues? Wanna get another opinion before I bother diving in & getting a new fuse ordered. I do pc tech work, so I am well aware of the dangers working with caps & power supplies.
Mains borne power surges and transients are dangerous to semiconductor devices and especially CMOS devices - any equipment containing these should be provided with surge protection and because almost everything is a computer these days, this means almost everything!
Regarding microwaves - I have been inside quite a few but so far haven't noticed any fuses protecting the control circuitry though there is usually one in the eht circuit. A power surge is unlikely to harm the components of the eht side.
The voltages of the control and timer circuitry are quite normal but those of the eht side are beyond the scope of the ordinary multimeter. I don't have an eht probe so I have never measured it but at various times I have read the voltage is anything from 2000 to 7000 and because it is mostly transformer generated, it is exceptionally dangerous and if the discharge resistor is absent or not working the capacitor can be dangerous for a long time after it has been switched off.
The light bulb doesnt work in my sanyo microwave it is difficultbto see the clock and timings. Model EMC5796V UK2
You appear to be referring to the LCD/LED display above the touch panel, which is not a light bulb. If the panel display is dim it may be due to grime on the inside of the plastic transparent window. The whole touch panel has to be removed in order to clean it. Failing that, the panel would have to be replaced which may not be economically viable as it may cost more than to purchase a good working second hand or new oven.
Before removing the cover of a Microwave oven in attempt to carry out ANY maintenance such as replacing the Oven cavity lamp, make sure the oven is disconnected from the power point ! The voltages in a microwave oven ARE LETHAL !
