Leave the suction side valve open. loosen the union a couple of turns, on the discharge side of the pump, or one of the unions at the heater assembly, it doesn't matter which of the three. You will get water, then the HISS of Air! Let all the air come out, then water again, for about 3-5 seconds, then tighten. Open the closed valve. Start system. It should take off. Good luck.

There is usually a rubber gasket inside the spout/spigot - this is called the diverter. This gasket can wear out or crack over time. Sometimes you can fix or clean just the rubber gasket, but most times it is easier and quicker to replace the whole spout/diverter. They are usually screwed on and will have teflon tape to seal the NPT pipe threads. Easy fix.

you need to unscrew the lever handle and in the bottom of the threaded recess you will see a 4mm allen head screw. Maybe impeller has debris in it or is bad or bad motor bearing

impeller could be jammed, or frozen, check valve stuck closed, air locked
