> If for some reason you don't still have your manual, here are ways to get one:
Look at the model number tag and find the FCC ID number.
Enter the number (in two parts) as shown on the FCC ID page here:
https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid
In the list of exhibits, look for the owner's manual. You can download it free.
If it's not there, you should be able to order it via the links on my part ordering page here:

Hi -
You just need to set the clock and you should be able to use the microwave again.
1. Press STOP/CLEAR. The 88:88 should stop flashing and be replaced by a flashing :
2. Press TIMER/CLOCK
3. Enter the time in 12 hour format using the number keys, e.g 8 3 2 for 8:32pm (or am)
4. Press TIMER/CLOCK again
I can't honestly remember whether you need to press TIMER/CLOCK before setting the time, so if it doesn't work after you've done the above, switch the power off and back on, and do it again without pressing TIMER/CLOCK before entering the time.

This should be all you need to do to use the microwave again. If the 88:88 doesn't stop flashing when you press STOP/CLEAR you may have a defective control pad or PCB.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance you can reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.

back in, set the clock, then try again.

Microwave ovens
Can't tell you much about your little rectangle, but sparks can result from left over food particles that got carbonized, and a good cleaning might get rid of it, unless you like looking at the sparks(I heard you shouldn't stare at a microwave while working though, washing machines are safer).
make sure you unplug it while cleaning or doing anything else, those micros are dangerous as hell.
Take care
Bake
back in the 1980s and early 90s there were cake and cookie mixs designed for microw use, you would have to go to market and read lables to be sure
Sharp selling bad microwaves
paddy paddy paddy i want i want, bet you were spoiled as a child,
never continue to use a microwave that sparks, you can only do more damage to the appliance and maybe even worse
is this sparking when you use it under normal conditions, place a plastic bowl with cold water in and see if it sparks then, if not then is it something you have done, i assume you know what you can not put in a microwave
if sparking occurs anyway, and its only 6 months old, is it under guarantee, then its simple, send it back and ask for free replacement
