It would be best if you didn't trying repairing this yourself. Take it to a trusted Jeweler in your town, or find a Skagen Authorized Dealer to send it to. Thanks.

I took out the back

You will probably need a watch press to get the back on. Call around at your local jewelers as they will have one if they carry watches.

Lost clasp to my new watch. where can I get one?

Skagen is very good about doing repairs and very reasonably priced for a replacement clasp Send your watch directly to them. Because of the mesh band on most of their watches a 3rd party repair shop will only send it to them and end up costing you more money and more time.

Here is the repair form-

Band replacement

Skagen watches have a fairly unique band. If you have a leather band you can find a replacement from most after market band suppliers like Speidel. For the mesh steel the only after market I know of is from Bariloche. Bariloche. I am still not aware of any titanium mesh suppliers but you can always contact Skagen for replacement bands. They are very good at keeping replacement parts for their watches for several years.

Once you have the band you will need to use a small screw driver to depress and release the spring bar that secures the band to the watch. Place a screw driver in between the ridge of the spring bar and the lug of the watch case and gently move inwards. Remember that the end of the spring bar is spring loaded so it may fly out if you move the end away from the watch.

Thanks!

Battery....can I get a battery

Most Skagen watches have a snap-in, snap-out back. You will need a tool to open the back such as a slotted jeweler's screwdriver or knife blade to pry it open. Be careful opening the back as the battery may pop out. Examine and make note of which side of the battery is up. Get the number off the battery, or take the battery with you to Wal-Mart, Radio Shack or anywere else they sell batteries. Buy a replacement, install it, and try to reinstall the back. You may even consider taking the watch with you to the above retailers...some of them are willing and able to change the battery for you.

Can't open the wrist watch case

Use a Testor's razor knife with eye protection. Use as much of the blade edge as possible. The Testor's blades are fairly strong and thin and I have used them on many Skagens before. I have had some Swiss cases with no gap or tab and the tightest tolerances and the Testor's hobby knife blades were the only hope and solution. Please use care and eye protection for any repairs or service of this nature. Things break and fly off with great force. Including the blade of a knife or razor knife.

Set date on skagen 496sgsc

I used to sell Skagen watches, don't know excatly which watch you have . I even went to their web site and couldn't find it. Most Skagens ( unless they are a chronograph with the three curcles on the dial) works like this: Your watch stem has 3 differant settings #1 all the way in #2 half way out , and #3 all the way out . To set the time you pull the stem all the way out and adjust the time. To set the date, pull the stem all the way out and turn untill the date changes ( this will make sure you have it on am-pm correctly) then put the hands at 6 o'clock. Put the stem all the way back in, then pull the stem half-way out. Start with the stem all the way in and slowly pull it out and you will feel the "click" when it is half-way out. MAKE SURE YOU HANDS ARE NOT BETWEEN 9 O'CLOCK AND 3 O'CLOCK, OR YOU WILL BREAK THE AUTOMATC DATE SETTING GEAR!!!!! Then either turn the stem clock-wise , or counter clock-wise , one of the two ways will set your date.
