If fuel is leaking from the fuel filter, replace it. If fuel is flowing freely into carburetor and overflowing, it is likely the float, needle and seat.

i need to know what kind of engine does this machine have ..you said it hadnt been started in a few years?? was there old gas in it when you tried to start it??if so you need to first drain it and before you put fresh gas in it make sure you dont have dirt or rust in the bottom of the tank take a flash light and do a GOOD visual inspection. if there is any dirt or rust you may need to remove the tank and clean it re assemble it and put fresh gas in it .if this dont work check to see if it has a inline gas filter if so replace it if not it should have a setiment bulb.. carefully remove it (use caution when removing it to avoid damage to gasket)..dump fuel bowl and wipe it clean put a cup of gas in the tank and see if you are at this point getting gas to the float bowl if you are go ahead and replace float bowl and fill tank put a couple of table spoons of marvals mystery oil in tank you can get it at any parts store it comes in a red bottle and try to start it if this dont work i can talk you through a couple more procedures i know beond a doubt if i was there i could get it going and chances are if i walk you through a couple more procedures you can do it if you have any mechanacle aptitude email me at [email protected]

that could be wiring issue that the batter isn't able to take up the electricity supplied to it.. u know, the conductor between them.. if possible get a manual from reliable-store to fix it urself
