The blade(s) should have usually two bolts on them depending how many blades you have. Mine only has one blade held on with two bolts and that is only on the side that cuts the larger branches up to two inches in diameter and should be sharpened on a grinding wheel because it has a specific angle to it. The other side that chips smaller branches and twigs it a type of flailer, meaning pieces of metal just swinging around to mash up the sticks and do not need sharpening.

need to do a full engine tune up with carb rebuild, the old stale fuel has gummed up the fuel system, sitting up is the worst thing you can do to an engine. there is nothing you can pour in the fuel tank to clean the carburetor, it must be dissasembled and cleaned. as for the timing, the gap is aprox 10,000 of an inch or .010 a business card works great or an old drivers license works good for engines that have worn mag bearings hope this helps good luck!

you can try cross referencing the old built at any auto parts store or just bring the old belt in to any autoparts store

sounds like your spring is broken in the rewind you need to replace the spring

check with you local service center that handles tecumseh parts. I can get it thy should be Abel too. your new number is 36221

try changing spark plug, if unit sits outside rain can rust the coil but I would try a new spark plug first and make sure it;s gaped correctly

As there is a model number on the chipper there should be a model number on the engine. You may have to stand on your head to find it but, it's there.

There is a blockage in the outlet from the fuel tank, there is a filter in the tank and it is dirty. Try it anyway. Stephen.

There is option to "Download Owners Manual" on the left hand side.

The drive belt may be the wrong size if there is no play in the clutch. I have a 10 hp, but there is a common manual for the 10 and 8. My belt is a 4L380.

4L380 works fine.

Check the oil level. If the oil is low, the chipper will not continue running.

Troy Bilt was bought out by Mtd , most of the old stuff is hard to get, Tecumseh went out last year ,but was bought this year we can still get some parts ,
You need to clean the carb , mark all linkage holes before taking
carb off , 631028b is part # for needle and seat and bowl gasket,
630740 oring you may need 2 if it has 2 adj screws , the one on bottom
is main jet start off at 1 1/2 turns out . the more turned out the richer it runs. the side screw is the low speed adj start out at 2 turns , it only
will make a change at low speed .;
there are very tiny holes in the side of the bowl nut or main jet screw adj make sure the are open .

This has happened several times for me and is usually caused by a peice of word jamed in the input hopper and half cut by the blades. Always make sure there is no wood in the input chute before stopping motor. remove the collector bag and use a long pry bar to reverse the flywheel. if this moves backwards you may then be able to remove the peice of wood jammed in the blades thru the input chute. Long Skinny arms is required to reach down the chute. Use a Flashlight to see if this is your problem.

I know what you are talking about. but i don't know what the tool is called, but i have an answer to your second problem(rope coming out a little bit). the problem is that there is a lot of junk stuck in the place where it spins. all you have to do is soak it in mineral spirits over night, and in the morning turn it in and out till it works perfect.
