unplug wire less mouse adapter from port then plug back if that fail try putting in different port.

I'm not familiar with this particular model, but I have a Logitech wireless mouse w/ a nano receiver. You say the software recognizes the mouse? Is it functioning at all with the battery in it (a new one preferably). Have you tried setting it up using the Setpoint software? Without more information, I can't really help you. You're saying it's DOA, but at the same time you're saying the software recognizes it, which makes me think there's something going on there. Please write back with more details as to whether or not you've tried to set up the mouse with the software and whether or not it's wireless or not. Thank you.

Logitech says to use only non-rechargable batteries in this model. Rechargables can stick due to slight size difference. Also, older alkaline batteries can swell. Hope this helps:)

I'M ANSWERING MY OWN QUESTION: PRESS LEFT CLICKER AND HOLD, WAIT FOR MAGNIFYING GLASS TO APPEAR, THAN SCROLL WHEEL UP AND DOWN FOR ZOOM IN AND OUT. IT IS COOL! I LOVE IT WHEN I FIGURED THINGS OUT ON MY OWN.

Both the tap and scroll features are configurable as to speed.
Try changing their configurations.
The tap has a delay setting, and the scroll setting is for distance.

I'm afraid the USB mouses will not work on windows 98, please use the adapter so it fits into a ps2 port. (the old mouse plug) then of course you can check the logitechs website if they offer any drivers for windows 98 but its very unlikely.

Actually I looked myself and the oldest they offer is xp.

so it would be a good time to buy a new computer, yours must be around 12 years old. considering that 5 year old machine is considered old, your 12year old machine is ancient.

I would go in and uninstall the mouse completely and then reinstall it fresh using the Logitech software.

This may due to faulty tap button. If the mouse is in warranty, ask the vendor to replace/repair the same.

you need to press the reset switch ont he recever that connect to the computer and then the mouse so it can sink up.
