Are you talking about a full magazine? You have to get the bolt out of the way because it is too tight? Take out 1 round and see what happens. Does it do it to an empty mag? You are not talking about a stripper clip are you? You know they don't come with magazines, the 30 rnd mags you get that are detachable have been modified some how. And they don't go in easy. Not like an AK, Let me know.

Pull the bolt back far enough that it locks open on the empty magazine. Push cartridges down into the magazine and then pull the bolt back and let it snap closed to chamber a round.

Take it to your firearms dealer so it can be sent to the proof house to be inspected and certified as deactivated or take it to the proof house yourself

Remove gas tube (with the upper forward handguard), and the fitting on the barrel that the front of the gas tube plugs into, look down the hole, and you'll see the gas port. Pay the feds $200 tax stamp and become one of their most watched, then go out and find a conversion kit, consisting of auto sear, selector, trigger, hammer, bolt carrier, springs, and whatever else you need, install it, you will be all set, then find a couple thousand rounds to feed the thing. And become hated by everybody within ear shot of your rifle.And every local police wanting to see your federal papers. Not worth it in my book. Fun yes, but not worth the aggravation. SKS's were built without polished ramps Have a gunsmith regrind and,polish the bolt ramp and, your rounds should insert and, extract flawlessly.

I had the same problem with them, they don't work that great, I had better luck with the sks mag that was converted for removal. The ak mags, I had to grind them just right or they wouldn't work, I can't even tell you what I did it was a while ago, but I got them to work.Something to do with the keeper and the catch in the front. You are the second person on here that wants to do that. Where do you live? Here in the states, it is such a pain to own a class 3 weapon, it almost isn't worth it. You need to pay $200 for the tax stamp, then become one of the worlds most wanted, hated by liberals everywhere, not that that matters. You can't shoot it without people freaking out,, you can't sell it, you have to account for it every second of the day, But a lot of fun to shoot.
The magazine conversion is fairly easy, if you can do the full auto swap, you can do the magazine swap. The full auto will be found in kit form, consisting of selector, hammer, bolt carrier, and auto sear, a few other goodies might be needed. I have never done the sks, but I know you need some of those parts. Maybe not all. Anyway, good luck.
