Fake Tags are common! The only surefire way to tell if its real is by the movement! They use Swiss ETA movements. Fakes use Japanese movements! If you are purchasing this watch online...well good luck! If you can take it to a watch repair company then I would suggest that before you buy so they can open the case back and see what kind of movement is in it! A real Tag will cost upwards of $1500 plus and I would think a Limited Edition would be even more!

your problem sounds mechanical, could be dust or just broken. a watch jeweller can test and determin the right problem.

Fake watches are poorly made, writings are smudged, Watch itself is much lighter in weight than the original, movements are of very poor quality e.t.c.
The original watch oozes with quality and every tiny detail is superbly finished. All writings are crisp and sharp. Materials are of the top quality only. Check in pictures how fine is every detail. If you have anything less than what you see, DO NOT buy it.

You are undertaking quite difficult task. I'm not very sure that the assembling the watch from separately bought parts will be cheaper than the complete watch itself.
Anyway, if you decided to do so- go ahead.
First you have to consider what type of watch you want- mechanical or quartz.
Second - what features would you like: simple classical layout, type of seconds hand, chrono layout, maybe with subdials and so on e.t.c.
Let me know all this and I will guide you through all the stages and may even help with part supplies.
Make can be considered later as very many watch parts are interchangeable.

Hard to tell without knowing what model or caliber number (usually on back). Generally, if you pull the crown (winding knob) out all the way you can set the time. Push it ONE click in, you can set the date. Check with the manufacturers website for a book of instructions you can download.

You probably have a screw down crown. Turn the crown counterclockwise and unscrew the crown. Now you should be able to pull it out. When tightening it back down, don't over tighten, just snug. This is to keep moisture out of your watch. Always have it screwed down unless you are setting the watch.

You have selected a wonderful watch... Heuer and TAG/Heuer should be gently wound by the motion of the human wrist and the falling of a centrally pivoting weight (there is no ideal direction). AUTO-WIND function is NOT at all unique to your watch... After a couple of CHEAPER "winders" failed me... and after I figured about 4 watches was more than enough to keep wound... I found the greatest BASIC watch winder... to run year over year (efficiently and quietly) MTE watch winder (their very basic WTS-4). why not just take to a watch/jewellery store and get battery changed

Tags once were often on the fake market but this watch should be real. A watch repair shop can open the case and tell you quickly. Its about a $1500 watch new.
