This is my first Leupold scope, I don't understand

minute of angle is not the same as 1/4" per click at 100 yards. if it doesn't click something is wrong. i would call leupold and probably try to get a replacement from where you bought it. moa is an angle value not an inch value.

Leupold VX II 3x9x50mm scope on a rem. 270. One

16 clicks is about 4" at 100 yards not 25. did you try shooting it at 100 yards? remember the scope is mounted at least an inch and probably higher than that above the barrel. at close range you will always hit low with a scope because the bullet has to climb at least an inch or more before it will be right on at 25 yards. if it is dead on at 25 it should hit way high at 100. (or the scope/ mounts are bad).

Leupold 3x9x40 vari-xIIc on BAR30-06. Adjusted windage as far to the right as possible and I'm still 6-8 inches off center. 12 year old scope been dead on till the middle of this season.

from my experience owning a bar they tend to lose accuracy badly after a lot of rounds are put through them especially if they are shot rapid fire style allot ( the barrel gets very hot and i am also not impressed with how the barrel is attached to the receiver) i shot mine until it just would not shoot accurately at all. (i sold it). its possible that your scope or mounts are loose defective or there may be a screw that may be broken under the mounts that you cant see.

I have about a 1989 model Leupold 3x9 Var X and

You have a number or a fraction on the inside of the windage cap, or you should, it will say something like 1/4 or 1/2? That will tell you how many fractions your scope moves with each click, at 100 yards. Anyway, there is also a left and right direction on the scope, you want your scope to go in the direction of your bullet miss, this will pull the barrel over to the center, again, it is supposed to. If you have run out of clicks, you will need to shim your scope. So, on the 1/4 inch at 100 yards, you will want to move the dial, 8 to 12 clicks to the right. Shoot it again, if it went the wrong way, you know what to do. If it didn't move at all, try this.... If it is a bolt action rifle, pull the bolt out, mount the rifle in a cardboard box with v grooves cut in it so it will cradle and not move, or a vise, sight down the barrel at a target at 100 yards, then peek down the scope, it should be right on the target, if not move the cross hairs till it aligns, check the barrel again, make sure it didn't move, then peek through the scope again, if it is the same, it will be on paper at 100 yards, if it is not a bolt action, the only other rifle you can d it with is an AR type rifle. This is a military trick, not something I dreamed up, it works. Check it out.

I had my 6.8SPC dead on at 100....I went and shot

You have to check inside the right cap for the MOA, if it is 1/4 MOA, it will not adjust 56 inches. You will need to shim the bases to get it up there and then you have a small window up and down. But, check the ballistic table for that bullet and then determine where the best zero will be, Like maybe 300 yards, then it only has a few inches to go to get 600, and a few inches down for 100. I am not familiar at all with the 6.8, I mess with military ammo only. But I don know what bullets do. Hope this helps.

Hi, i was thinking of getting a leupold

The 4-12 X 40 means 4 time magnification to 12 times magnification with a 40 mm objective lens.

This indicates that you can zoom from 4-12 times the unmagnified size of your subject.

Short answer - Yes!

Will not work after dusk.Does NOT enhance any

I think you are a little mixed up with what a low light scope actually is.

If you look through a standard scope and a low light scope at dusk and compare the image, you should see a little clearer with the low light scope.

These are designed to allow you 10-15 minutes extra shooting time over a standard scope in low light conditions.

If you want to be sneaking round in the dark like snake from splinter cell, i'm afraid you have the wrong bit of kit.

You will need a Night Vision scope which use infra red and an image intensifier to amplify the light and convert it into an image that the human eye can see.

Rifle scope will not track with the adjustments

When you make your adjustment tap on the scope with a small screw driver handle a few times before you fire her. Work slow and tap as you go.

Overtighten causes hazing,and adjusment problem

As a general rule of thumb, If you have normal Weaver-type aluminum rings, you tighten to 10 to 15 inch-pounds. If you have normal Weaver-type steel scope rings, you tighten to 15 to 20 inch-pounds. If it's something exotic and/or expensive, you're pretty much stuck contacting the manufacturer. Leupold Mark 4's require 65 in-lb, for instance.

Wiha makes two adjustable torque screwdrivers (one for lower torque, and one for up to 60 in-lb that are perfect for most any scope ring applications.
