- Connect your iPod to your computer and attempt to synch your ipod.
- Backup all the files on your iPod onto your hard drive. Restoring your iPod will wipe out all your music.
- Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple.com. Since iTunes is set to update itself periodically, you probably already have the latest version already.
-
From iTunes, click on your iPod name in the left navigation bar. It will bring you to the summary page.
- Click "Restore" on the updater and your iPod will restore itself to factory settings (also resulting in losing all of its music).
- Click the prompts to indicate that you really want to go through with this. If using Windows, you will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. Holding down the SHIFT key before clicking the Restore button will allow you to browse your computer for version of firmware you wish to use. The 4 possible restore options are:
- Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
- Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
- Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
- Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
- If using a Mac, a progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
- Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
- Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
- During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
- Follow the instructions of the iTunes setup assistant. Let iTunes autofill it with music again and you will be set to go!
I lose content of my Ipod when charging.
Hey. In your itunes window, you have the option to automatically sync the ipod once it is plugged in. If this is on, then your ipod will sync itselfto whatever computer you plug it into. This means that if you have uploaded a bunch of songs from your computer, and you plug it into another one with auto sync on, it will delete all your previous songs. In the future, make sure this option is turned off, and that you do it manually.
Hope this helps!
