Water damage dropped
try the good old rice trick take the batt out place the device in a zipplock bag with plain old rice let it sit in there for a good day or two the rice absorbs the water from inside the device safest and best way works for other electronics too

You need to recalibrate. Try pushing B, A, Hint, and Home when you turn it on. Do not have a cartridge in the player or it will think it is a regular Leapster. Once it says calibrate screen it will say to press A, then wait until a target appears in the upper left hand corner, touch it and you should hear a sound, then a new target appears in the lower left hand, repeat actions, then lower right hand screen, and finally the upper right hand screen. If it stops at any time and doesn't get more arrows, try it again or turn it off and see if the pen works. It may take a few tries to get it to recalibrate correctly.

- That blinking green light means the rechargeable batteries are no longer holding a charge which is also why the unit shuts down when the power feed is removed. You just need a new set or rechargeable batteries is all. 4 AA (or LR6 depending where you are)
- Please note that when the charger rapidly blinks green, in addition to the batteries that are failing, they can overheat and leak. Please, cease to use those batteries and take them to a recycle place before they begin to leak from trying to charge when they are not safe to charge anymore.
- If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
- Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I have an original leapster
There is no definitive way to check if your battery will hold a charge besides actually using the device itself.
