well usually with blackberrys there is an unlock pin in the box you got it in. if not, then you have to go to your network provider and ask them to unlock your phone. you will need proof of purchase (a receipt, or the box, and dont try using your friends if you cant find it, they check the serial number) to make sure its not stolen. then they will most likely wip your data. hopefully you have a memory card inside, and if you do, remove it before sending it in, because they will most likely wipe your data if its still in there.

App Error 523 is a software error, most often related a theme or third party application you've installed.

Follow these directions:

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.

2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life.

Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.

Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

Blackberry would not, but your Wireless Vendor would refurbish it, if it is still under the one year warranty. Blackberry does provide the software to wipe/nuke the software. This may be a possible fix for you.

yes :) but i dont know anyone tha does it for free. we charge because it uses up a bit of our time and we take a few risks doing it.

flashing the software might help, at this point that must be the only solution...but i would say i need to know more about the problem, when the fault first occured, past histories of mishandling, how old the device is etc

The best thing I was able to find is this forum posting on crackberry.com. Looks like the consensus is that the device "is toast" when you get that error message. Try re-installing the OS (backing up first if possible) or if it looks like there's nothing left to lose try wiping it with this tutorial. Most likely you'll need to replace the device. If you can back it up (or have a backup) that would be best of course.

You need a new lcd. You can find them on ebay for less than $20 and fix it yourself if you are so inclined. There are some sites out there where they will fix it for you. Or you can trade it in on another phone at sites like ours.

this can sometimes happen to blackberries. and there is not easy fix. there are applications for the blackberry that you just click on to do a soft reset. this program was created because of this issue. if this does seem to help and you don't want to keep resetting your phone, you might this about doing a wipe and starting from scratch. you might have downloaded a program that just is not working properly...good luck

you need to reflash you OS on to the phone...

you can connect the phone using the usb cable to the laptop/pc/mac that you are using then open your desktop manager (blackberry).....open apploader then click on software update and upload the OS back to the phone this should work...also if the DM does not see your PIN, remove the battery from the phone then connect it again you should see BB PIN:UNKNOWN just click next and you should be good to go.
