Usually the problem you describe is the flex cable. For this model I would recomend you take it to a repair center because the parts are delicate. I usually get flex and parts from flexqueen.com

It is like a new set. You will have to reset it again. I wonder if it was locked to a service provider. If yes then it would not read the other's SIM. Unlock it. Or have it unlocked from HTC Service Center.

The only way to get the unlock code is to have T-mobile service for at least 90 days(unless you're lucky). Call the service help line and tell them that you are going over seas and would like the unlock code for your G1. They will need your account info as well as the IMEI number of your phone(this can be found under the battery on the phone). In roughly 24hrs. you will receive an e-mail from HTC with your phone's SPECIFIC code(codes don't work for other G1s).


HOW TO:

1. Turn off the phone and remove battery/SIM

2. Insert other carrier's SIM and replace battery/cover

3. Power up phone and enter unlock code in menu that comes up.

4. Enjoy your unlocked G1

You can get the unlock code through online..........give your IMEI number & get the unlock code for ur mobile... i will suggest the website http://www.unlock-zone.com/ which is doing good service .....you can approach this website. This seems to be perfect in unlocking as i had purchased one & its worth..
This site is nearly perfect and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums. I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked.

Hi, what makes the touch screen not to function,is because the Flex of the phone which is connected to the screen of the phone is bad and it is connected to the touch screen.

When the flex is replaced, the touch screen will function again.

The phone needs to be reprogrammed / reflashed with the original software.

you need to obtain a rom image of the phones program and then place it on a storage card that fits to the phone.

Then you need to start the phone in boot loader mode to flash the program.

if you are unable to get the phone to function contact your dealer or take it to a repairer.
recovery mode Hold Home button and press power button In this mode you can open shell/flash image/perform backup etc. depending on which recovery image you have on the phone. Press CALL+MENU+POWER buttons simultaneously to exit mode.

1)You can unlock your mobile for free if it is a network service provider phone by calling him ask him for the unlock code.He will ask for some details about you for verification like name and date of birth and IMEI no and will provide you the unlock code.

2)For t1 mobile.You can buy an unlock code on ebay but the cheapest one i found for you is 9.43, all the other ones range from $10.90-24.99

clean the back of the phone where the battery goes

Hello,

the problem should be from the battery. I think the battery is very flat that's why its not powering the smartphone. Also, the charger cannot charge the battery because its too flat.

Use a desktop charger to charge the battery. This weak revive/wake the battery cell that is weak.

Once the battery is strong, it will power up the phone.

Need a little clarity on what your saying XP does recognize the SD card when you mount the phone to the computer, or it doesn't?

Well here is what you can try. and just remember ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do this before removing your SD card from your phone.

Settings>SD card & phone storage>Unmount SD card

Now if your phone has "Unmount SD card" blacked out then don't worry about just go ahead and remove the SD card.

Take the card and put it in a card reader and put it in your computer. Go to: Start>My computer> (and the drive corresponding to the SD card.) and then try to open it. If a window comes up saying something like drive E: is not formatted, Format now? and then Ok or cancel well if this comes up it could be one of three reasons; the SD card is not properly formatted, SD card is damaged, or the SD card reader is not working properly. So before trying to format the SD card try another card reader or try it on a different computer. If that doesn't work try to format the SD card. If formatting the SD card doesn't work, you may need to buy another one. If you do decide to get another one check Amazon.com they have good prices for the SD cards however if you prefer local buying best place to go (that I've found) is Radio Shack. They always have sales on the MicroSD cards. One other thing. For some reason. SanDisk Micro Sd cards seem to work the best for the G1. The transend cards are utter **** and worthless. Avoid buying them anytime your in the market for a new SD card or USB flash drive.

I had this issue and I thought it was dirt or something underneath the button. I took the phone apart and found the problem. Turns out it was dust or built up dried condensation on the motherboard where the ribbon cable that connects the buttons. Look for the youtube video on how to take apart the phone and it's the connection on the bottom of the phone to the right. and just use some alcohol and q-tips to clean the connections.
