old post, there are no fuses. fan yes, mobo yes, and more all things lacking a HATCH. 11 years old, no spring chicken this. and may have CCFL lamps. CCFL dead , LCD goes dead. as all did now. this old. seem you got the wrong manual. the Toshiba web site shows NO SERVICE manuals, free. that is why I never own them, I buy dell or hp, as they do have manuals, for sure. my sis has one, and i had to use youtube to find all screws and those dang silly hidden secret plastic snap locks. yah, toshiba's SUX. the users manual shows , hatch covers off. show memory swaps. then omg fails to show RTC coin cell removal, yah. my sis, i put in a new LCD display and LED conversion kit. and new SSD drive. and loaded fresh W10 on it, so... im not helpless. it runs fast and well but I personally hat Toshiba PCs. I buy USA when I can, so there is that. i can not find true and matching service manual but see A200 series, yes. (from non OEM sources) 240+ pages there. manualsdir.com has it. here is how many work (Dismantlment) all hatches off, and what is under hatch removed DDR, etc. look for screws hidden there. remove those. dvd drive out , and screws tricky hidden there or on upper lip there. yah. hdd out, see screws below> all screws on the bottom out. ALL> remove keyboard, if not all in one with plastic top, remove it then find screws there, (on some LP the heatsink/fan and pipe assembly must be removed now. Nevermind the more I thought about it, your not getting to the operating system. The PCs used to say something to the effect of 'operating system not found' after the POST if it could not find a boot device. I think that's what's happening here, you have to go into to BIOS and see if it can detect the hard drive. When the laptop boots look for a message saying 'press F1 for setup' or something along those lines... if it comes up too quick to see start hitting F1, Esc, Del keys right after the power lights comes on, BIOS is usually one of those keys. Once in BIOS look for a 'devices' type tab and search for where it reads the hard drive If there's nothing there then its your problem, and you need to get the BIOS to autodetect it. Respond if you have questions.

Sometimes my laptop does this as well. It seems to happen more and more when it is warm. You might try putting something underneath it and ensure it is getting enough air flow. Once I started doing this, mine has been doing it less and less. Hope this helps.

Go into your bios and set your disc drive as the first boot device. Then put in your windows disc and do a startup repair.

sounds like hard drive

1. determine what brand of hard drive you have.
2. Go to that manufacturers support site.
3. Download their self booting diagnostic CD iso image.
4. Create the disk according to the instructions.
5. Boot to the disk and run the most exhaustive tests available to determine if the drive is bad or not.

I suggest you check the motherboard, because these things happen due to over-heat.
1> clean the cpu fan and heat-sink on the motherboard.
2> if it still happens
do troubleshooting on the ram, processor and motherboard.
(Most likely a problem on the processor or the chipset on your motherboard)

his is sound as though your power adapter is not charging your laptop battery and the battery is trying to preserve what power it has left to power up the screen as you demand but there is no voltage to do so.
1. you will need another power supply adapter from what you have describe here and or a battery replacement.
if you can possibly get an equivalent power adapter for your unit and connect it to see if you get power up then you need to replace the power adapter.

there I think you have picked up a virus which has secured your operating system.
even safe mode cannot be run it for u to retrieve your data.
give your machine a fresh installation. get and install a data recovery program and run fornated recovery for your data. if you have a recovery disk for your computer, you can use it for the reinstallation.
