I have a dv9008nr HP laptop. Thought I had a
Download a nice Linux distro like Ubuntu, and put it on a flash drive or DVD, then boot from that and see if it runs normally. If so your hardware is OK (HPs run Linux just fine).
Be careful with Linux, it's a '"cancer" according to Steve Ballmer. You might not go back to Windows.

EDIT:the problem is the nVidia GPU. it often overheats. there was a recall for this computer a while back. the recall has ended, but just so you know, you need to find a way to better cool the GPU. a copper shim between the GPU and the heat-sink will do wonders for you. apply Arctic Silver Thermal Epoxy to the shim and attach it to the heatsink. then, you need to use arctic silver 5 thermal paste on the GPU (about .2 grams should cover it) and reattach the heatsink to the board. while you are at it, replace the CPU thermal **** with the as5 thermal paste. my GPU is running now between 58 and 66 C. its really high still, yes, but the computer will not longer shut down because of overheat. get a laptop cooler for this thing too. it will not survive a hot summer day. i am absolutely positive.
I have an HP Pavilion
Hello,
Try taking the battery out of the Laptop and unplug the A/C power. Now press and hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Now put the battery back in and connect the A/C cord. Then try turning the laptop on. If this doens't work you may have power issues or motherboard issues.

I have an HP Paviion dv9008nr Entertainment -black screen at boot
Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot on at a time. After each reseat of the memory, turn on the laptop and see if you get video. If you still don't get video, go ahead and take out the hard drive and the dvd drive.
Then try turning on the laptop, if you still don't get video then the motherboard is bad and you'll need to get it replaced.
Wireless not working
you may have a poor or failing wireless card in your laptop and more than likely it is part of your motherboard and would be very costly to replace. Assuming your wireless router is good, get a wifi card for your laptop. Quick way to check your router is to have a friend bring over their laptop and check it when it is acting up.
No sound
go to sound controls and see headphone sound is not muted...if its so then try to install new audio drivers....
Removing virtual drive
It depends what program you used to add it in the first place. Open the software and look for settings, or just uninstall it.

What does a HP laptop notebook with model number A6Y530A look like
learn to google mate.
this is no secret, gee millions sold.
A6Y530A
the partsurfer shows true model, and fails
this is the only post here ever asking for reverse code lookups
on models fake, and is not easy in vast cases
I guess you have no such PC, (look like)
so why ask this>? what prompted this quest>? not told
why not ask seller for photos of it if this is a pre sales question , is it>?
google and bing and HP all show that model # is BOGUS
so go back to your sell and ask the we can not guess PCs ever.
HP product ID# is best on the service tag for SURE.
where did you see this number, not told.
or that number is some 20+ year old COMPAQ PC ,lost in the sands of time, and no google hits.
you posted to HP forum, (not real) Hp.com is real
Hp pavilion g series manual
what does not working mean (KBD) dead, or 1 key bad or row. what?
symptoms matter most, for sure in a LAPTOP IS IT
the word Pavilion is on laptops and desktop, dig?
G mean zero , the service tag does not just say "G" sorry.
easy peasy lemon squeezy
HP.com
complex URL no?
go there
tell them your model # or better the service tag code ! .
then magically HP puts you on YOUR service support page
and all manuals and all driver before your eyes. amazing no?
NO told at all
or of a laptop or desktop or what./?
you posted ANON so I can't just read other posts by you to learn what PC this is , no I can not.
there are over 100 PC called G series, and vast years.
some PCs by them G1 to 7 are generations, like
HP Pavilion g6-1029tx Notebook.
if you can find the service tag the product ID # is what matters most
this code includes (real model, version , options and country sold)
see this, older PCs by them had this.
see that , all matters but do not post SN/ or service codes in public.
mine: procuct code (nnnnnnABA#)

I will guess it is 17" laptop, here is the mess just that 1 sized
once you see this you know that G series means not MUCH>

The airplane mode button is stuck on orange although my computer say's airplane mode off
old PCs do that, for many reasons. but no PC told at all just HP.
40 years of PCs ,10000 + models nobody can guess ever.
but I do have the answer, in pure generic form.
did you buy the PC like that used and bad Wifi. ?
- the wifi card is missing, as was super common 10+ years ago.
- someone put in the wrong card, not from HP list
- HP blacklists (bios blocks) none HP cards (wifi)
- the card needs a driver to work if not it is dead or 1/2 dead.
- the PC needs 1 more driver to make the wifi buttons all work , all buttons related, if not they are dead or act odd.
- The OS is infected, no OS told at all, not one clue nor if upgraded the OS, and not vast drivers are wrong or missing, (classic)
Im sure this this is not the free w10 upgrade, if it was that too kills drivers dead, for sure HP told you this unstated PC will not run W10 and has zero support from HP, on w10 AS YOUR SUPPORT PAGE WILL DISCLOSE TO YOU AT HP.COM
How reinstall bios on a HP dv9000
bad news now your bricked it just like miillions did
google bios update bricked my PC and cry.
why are you here and not at HP.com
only they can recover bios.
they changed the rules now 10 time.
so only they know this, and are pain to deal with.
UEFI is the enemy here, new rule and regressive as can be.
in fact all new PCs can not be regressed, and some old now
they even delete the 20 version of bios there, to force that.
not saying they did that to your PC, but keep that in your head on all HP PC.
the last bios upgrade stated, no going back.
the Cntrl_+B might work , the flashback bios trick\
in your manual if you read it.
