all i can find is 5349

why not join there form , fixya has no books no software and for sure 10,000 firmware upgrades.
ask them what is the best match for you PC.

the 9300 is not 5349

They probably replaced hard drive because it was failing. Try downloading VLC media player from filehippo.com

I am guessing the laptop is a few years old now and not covered by warranty, it appears you have a corrupt recovery partition or the HDD is faulty which i suspect its the latter, need it checked as i think a new HDD is in order.

Power output on a headphone socket is not great - depends on the headphone and speaker resistance - have you tried a cheap pair of in ear headphones to see if it is the headphone socket.

Headphone socket does sometimes break like the power socket its one of the most common problems on a laptop.

If so its not difficult to find a new headphone socket or even re-solder the old one - it may be a dry joint!

Are you getting sound through the laptop speakers for a start.
The headphone socket should interrupt the main speakers automatically so there is no setting in sounds and devices in windows that would cause your problem.

Try to repair/fix the problem. Without CD you cannot reinstall the OS unless there is a recovery partition that is still intact. By wiping out every file you might erase the recovery partition (if there was one).
Regardless of what you do, your computer will never be new again.

your registry is corrupted i would advise you to reinstall windows and create an image backup afterwards.this was caused by a virus which does nothing but prevents yor windows from operating properly.

You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 ASUS and Dell = Fn + F8
