2004 Mercury Mountaineer "pull starter wont engage" Questions

starter checked. Still wont start. When I hit the key you can hear the starter relay engage. This is my my primary problem. Secondary problem: I hooked up a romote start trigger to the small terminal.

wont turn over when i try to start????? If I had to guess, I would say that the starter is not engaging the engine. When you turn the key to start, it energizes the starter and a solenoid that "pulls"
