speed sensor type 2005 forester 5 speed manual. How does the Speed sensor work - analouge or electronic? Why - a service ceter says they may have to remove the gear box to fix it? I would think a 2005

speed sensor may be dirty. It's actually ERROR SS for a speed sensor fault. It's usually not the sensor that goes bad, rust builds up between the bearing hub and knuckle mating surfaces and interferes
