Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer "photocopy" Questions

Have installed new cartridge but it will not print. Will photocopy OK. reinstall it once. i dont understand. What does photocopy mean??? Also check whether the tape on the cartridge is removed.
