5.9L Cummins DP. Check engine light on, engine loses power, sluggish. Replaced fuel filter, emptied diesel tank and replaced with new fuel. Same problem.

Motor home sat for 5 years with same diesel fuel. Started it each month during those five years. Idles fine. However, when I took it on the road the "check engine" light went on, lost power, sluggish. Replaced fuel filter, emptied diesel tank and replaced with new fuel. Didn't help. What else could it be.

SOURCE: Engine dies for no apparent reason after several hours running

Sonds like a sensor putting out an error code to shut it down ( like a fatal error code) Prolonged vibrations and heat can make cam sensors, maf, o2 senosr do craz ythings which will actuate a govener and stall your car...could also be you fuel pump causually telling you that "hey im bout to die".I dealership can run a stress test (if you will) to check the longivity of the pump...
Good luck hope this helps :)

SOURCE: o2 lincoln ls check engine

You have two pumps,I guess you know that ,if you already did one. Did you check fuel pressure at the rail and check out the electronic pressure regulator? What codes are coming up and do they stay set?

SOURCE: Check engine light stayson & car idles

There are many different things in todays engines that can cause a rough idle. First you need to know what codes the engine is throwing. My suggestion for this is to make use of Autozone's(or similar part stores) free engine diagnosis. They will give you a print off of the codes and it includes most likely causes and fixes.

1976 dodge f40 sportmann rv can put gas in carb starts up but will not any other way

If your 1976 Dodge F40 Sportmann RV starts up only when you put gas directly in the carburetor, there might be an issue with the fuel delivery system. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Fuel Pump: Check if the fuel pump is working correctly. Listen for a buzzing sound when you turn the key on (without starting the engine). If you don't hear anything, the fuel pump might be faulty, or there might be a problem with the electrical connection.
  2. Fuel Filter: Check if the fuel filter is clogged. If it's been a while since you replaced the filter, it might be clogged with debris, preventing the fuel from reaching the carburetor.
  3. Carburetor: If the fuel pump and filter are working correctly, the issue might be with the carburetor. Check if the carburetor is dirty or clogged with debris. You may need to clean or rebuild the carburetor.
  4. Ignition System: If the ignition system is not working correctly, it might not be providing enough spark to ignite the fuel in the engine. Check the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor to ensure they are in good condition and functioning correctly.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it might be best to take your RV to a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.

How do I remove the gray water tank from a 1990 Jayco Model 245? It came loose and has a hole in it and needs replaced,.

Your tank my be hidden by a cover or exposed. Either way, there should be at least two bands or straps that hold the tank between the frame rails and cross trusses. Before attempting to remove, ensure the tank has been emptied. The straps are held by screw that use an S2 but, do not use a Phillips, it will strip and waller out the screw head. As you remove the screw, the tank will drop. It is plastic and not heavy when empty. As you remove those screw, the tank will start to drop. When laying on my back, I use my legs to hold the tank up until all the screw are out. Gently power the tank knowing that the hoses and lines to fill and empty are still attached. If you need, use jack stands or wood blocks to support as needed to remove the lines.

As a temporary fix, get a short machine thread screw that would be a tight fit and apply Blue Loctite (let completely dry before installing) and screw into the hole until you have resistance. I just did this on a 2019 Thor Palazzo on the fresh water tank until I have a chance to get it replaced.

Have no gravity fill for freshwater, only hose fitting with lever for city water or tank fill. tried funnel with hose fitting, but won't drain into RV. How can I use a pail when no hookups are near?

I don't know what you will use, but when I am dry camping, my combined black and grey water tanks hold twice the fresh water tank capacity. SO: .... to fill it, I got a NEW 5 gallon yellow (diesel) plastic fuel tank('can') ..... (caution: do not put fuel into it), and used a drill pump (available for less than $8.00 from Harbor Freight) to pump fresh water from the 5 gallon 'can' into the fresh tank. repeat until filled. Since we live fulltime in a 5th wheel, I have my tools with me all the time.

buying a new, unused fuel container (5 gallon) , ensures no fuel contamination of your fresh water supply and tank. ALSO: get a NEW drill pump and do NOT use it for waste water or other fluids, keep in a small container for fresh water use ONLY..... recommend you let it dry thoroughly after each use.

1983 Ford coachman rv

1983 still had a carburetor. Thus, a manual fuel pump, driven by the engine. Located towards the front down low. 2 bolts, 2 lines. No pump in the tank.

I would check the fuel filter first, before changing the pump. Located somewhere inline between the tank and carb. Some carbs had a 2nd one at the fuel inlet.

Remote possibility of clogged fuel line. Can be blown out with compressed air.

Check the oil level and smell for gas. A ruptured fuel pump diaphram will pump gas into the engine. Noticeable by gas smell on dipstick and higher than normal oil level.
