It could be a faulty ignition coil or wires, broken high tension spark plug lead, faulty spark plug or the spark plug gap. If there's a distributer or points involved check for cracks or point hap settings. You need to eliminate each one in tutn to find the fault.

Did you find the problem Im having the same issue, can it be the cooling liquid hose that passes near the exhaust pipe?

cdi boxes can be tricky here a few key spots by the battery up front by the ignition it front of the motor or on either side of the frame near the gas tank , they make them different upon models .

i would try muffler weld its 5$ at autozone if that dosent help i would get the leak welded shut
