The fuel valve assembles as shown in the diagram. The diaphragm shuts off the gas when the engine is not running. A vacuum line runs from the left carb to the valve. When the engine starts, ( using the gas already in the carb ), the vacuum pulls the diaphragm open so the gas can flow.

Thank you tombones49. This information definately helped me to get my motorcycle running. One more question if you don't mind; can you assist me with information on setting the ideal on my 93 Vulcan Kawasaki 500 or will this be a job for a mechanic? The motorcycle is idealing high.

Candyl, the bike is a 1993 model. Lord knows what previous owners may have fiddled with on or inside the carbs. Now would be a good time to let the shop check and adjust the carbs, brakes, steering stem, and controls. I am pleased that I was able to help. Can I get a "four thumbs" rating?

Where is the fuel line on a Vulcan 500 2006 to drain the tank

The fuel on/ reserve adjustment (fuel petcock) is on the bottom left side of the tank opposite the key switch and near the choke. The fuel line extends from that and will drain the tank if you remove it. You will likely want to remove the tank if you plan to drain a lot of fuel. That will make it a little less messy

if the clutch is stuck try holding the clutch handle in and rocking bike back and fourth, if it don't let go try starting bike in gear(while sitting on it) and holding clutch handle in while popping the throttle sometimes that breaks it loose, remember to keep clutch handle pulled in

Gas not flowing to carburator I took petcock cover out and found that gas had stayed there and became gummy I cleaned it but feel there might be more in filter motercycle stays on but not allowed to...

Try berrymans b12 and some fresh gas through the tank and into the carb. Let it sit for 24 hours and see if that clears up the problem if not you will need a rebuild of the petcock. K&L has rebuild kits. Refer to the manual for removing the tank and petcock. Its a pretty straight forward procedure.
