How to drive?

you can ride the cluthch on a bike un like a car you wont hurt it its oil lubricated constantly, sitting on the bike pull the clutch in with your left hand and click the left foot lever down in to 1st, then learn how to click it back up 1 half movement in to neutral. the neutral light will come on sfter the bike enters neutral. in first gear give the throttle on the right hand a squeeze and pull the clutch in with your left hand put foot gear selector down in to 1 st and begin to release clutch slowly. hold on as bike will engage may be jerky balance yourself! when you get moving stop! by pulling the clutch in and the hand brake as you close the throttle to stop! practice your take off many times some where safe! when you get your balance in 1st gear pick up speed and begin shifting the foot gear selector up in to 2nd gear and practice closing the throttle and breaking to a safe stop. gears are generslly 1st down 1 click 2345 and6th all up from there and neutral is 1 half a click up from 1st between 2nd gear. And dont put it in gear with the kick stand down t may stall on you

hope this helps

Hello. My 1995 dr 350 has a couple problems. First of all, the engine seems to get crazy hot from just minor trail riding. I know the head should get hot, but this just seems too hot. I don't want to fry...

for ur overheating problem it could be a clogged radiator or radiator hose. try pressure washing the radiator fins and maybie clean it out a bit and for the clutch it could be wear on ur clutch cable. let me know if this helped. thanks

Recently purchased a '97 Vulcan 1500 C. Had 11,730 miles on it. After riding about 1,000 miles, the clutch is begining to slip when cold. Seems ok after riding for about an hour. It also clunks, or grinds...

I don't think your clutch is bad, if it doesn't slip when hot. I would be blaming the pull on the lever not enough, or the gears are worn in the tranny. You can adjust the lever and you can try bleeding off the clutch, The engine oil usually cools the clutch, I'm not sure where your filter is, mine is underneath like a car. My tranny clunks and grinds when revving too much, have to wait for the revs to go down before shifting into first. It used to slip on hot days. Hasn't done it but a couple times. I never took out the clutch basket, but it seems fairly easy. If the oil change doesn't do it, and the bleeding of the slave, I would have to dig deeper into complaints about your bike, before I blame the clutch. You might not have to touch it, but you might be looking at something else. Check it out.

After being in traffic for more than an hour the clutch stops working. If I shut off the vehicle and let it cool down a while the clutch works again. What would cause this? It actually has a relatively...

Sounds like your clutch job didnt include a good cleaning/machining of the flywheel. They glaze up from overheating and when you get them hot *(like from being in lots of stop and go traffic) the clutch "fades" or slips excessively. The bad news is....the more fading that occurs, the more glazed the flywheel gets.

Also, if you have a hydraulic clutch setup the clutch master and/or slave cylinders may be getting old and tired and starting to leak under constant use.

If you have a cable clutch you may just need to adjust the freeplay to take some of the slack out of the cable.

Your clutch is either wet with oil , or you are riding it oo much and making it hot. Push it all the way in when you are stopped. Don't hold it part way, or you will burn it out.
