40:1 is generally the ratio for this bike, as long as it was jetted correctly for that ratio and hasn't been messed with.

If you don't know the bike's history, check your silencer isn't ejecting any excess partially burned oil and there's not excessive smoke, also check the spark plug to see how its burning. It should be chocolate brown.

What goes in a kdx 80 gear oil or 2 stroke oil

Engine oil goes in the gearbox/transmission. Two stroke oil (also know as pre-mix) is mixed with the gas and oil in a separate gas can (to thoroughly mix the pre-mix and gasoline) and then the mix is poured into the fuel tank.

2002 kdx 200 reman motor idles great under acceleration and load it runs poorly smokes excessively and fouls sparkplug been running a 50 to 1 ratio of gas oil mix any suggestions

Make sure you have recommended spark plug. 2cycle bikes require a hot plug in order to burn fuel efficiently. I'm not that familiar with your bike but it seems too new-ish for the rings to be bad already. Another thing is... that you can't just use any 2cycle oil... you must use the manufacture's recommended oil for the fuel. Many of these machines are picky about which oil is used. Fuel to air mixture many times is the problem... this has to be just right on a 2cycle... they are touchy if they don't get the right amont of air. I hope somehting here will help you to find the answer or at least eliminate a few things if nothing else :)

Fuel mixture 1998 ?

I think the official ratio is 32:1 but a range of 25:1 to 40:1 is acceptable. If you run it wide open and hard most of the time, use the 25:1 or higher oil mix. If you run it pretty easy, then you can go up to 40:1 or less oil.

Good Luck
